Felt a little like a vulture picking the remains off a wounded beast, but couldn't resist a new dropper at that price..

Does anyone know if Santa Cruz bikes come as complete kits from SC US or do Jungle/the dealers source the forks in the UK? Just wondering if there will be yet more delays to my new bike?

Complete kits I think. Mine did, but hat was a couple of years ago. Pivot I got at the beginning of the year did too mind

Does anyone know if Float 34 29ers can be lowered from 140 to 120mm?
This - anyone?

No, you'll just have to buy the Factory ones 😉

You might be able to get a deal on some 2012/13 fork crown/kashima stanchions if you call them.

Blimey, that's really a surprise. Mojo are Fox in the U.K. It will be intresting to see where this goes from here. Mojo are a great company to deal with and I think Fox owe a lot to them for maintaining their profile in the U.K.

I wonder if Mojo will pick up a new brand or what?

I guess we will see some Geometrons with Rockshox in the near future!

I think this might have been in the planning for a while, we had no DPX2's in the UK and long lead-times on other 2018 forks and shocks.

That's a bit of a shock. I hope that Mojo stays aFloat. Presumably Fox will Transfer to a new distributor.

Not a bad try Edd

Mojo took a deposit from me for a 2018 fork, I was told it was delayed because there were factory issues. So either they were lying, or Mojo has thrown a hissyfit with Fox and there has been a falling out.

I wouldn't be suprised if this is something to do with the weak pound, imports are more expensive, the classic build a war chest before announcing liquidation, fair play to the CEO.

Mojo have always been very easy to deal with & very knowledgeable too.

The speed at which this happened & the dumping of stock quite so dramatically does not bode well for a happy ending - for neither Mojo nor its customers.

I hope I am proved wrong..

The speed at which this happened

Mojo pulled the usual Fox 36 sponsored prize at the WGES before Eastridge, so looks like something was in the offing then.

They were on the phones at 4.30 this afternoon (I called and grabbed an X2 with a mod from 50 to 57 - it was theoretically the last one). I’ll see what turns up in the post.

I do feel guilty scavenging on their remains, but then they have made the offer rather than me force them into a deal. It means I can cancel my upcoming service plans and resell my current shock for no overall loss, should essentially be a free service.

I was just about to go for a ride at Cwmcarn and call in to Mojo to see about retuning my DRCV shock on the small bike when this thread started and I posted earlier.

Called in on my way to Cwmcarn anyway and had a good chat with them about the whole situation. They didn't give out any details but from the way they were talking and by their body language, this is my take on the situation:

Basically it's happened quickly. They feared the end was coming (I think someone mentioned it was in the last week or two) but they had made no announcement as they thought they had time to fulfil current orders and get an alternative business going - servicing all makes etc. They do not have any knowledge of where Fox is going for the new distributor but there will be one, the UK is not being abandoned and warranty work will still be able to be completed by someone. All they would say is that things have moved a lot faster than they knew/thought they would so they are all very down at the moment. The whole workshop was very subdued and quiet, totally unlike every other time I have been there where it's usually busy with service work and people having a banter. The only thing that was hectic today was the phone, it was ringing the second they put it down.

I really feel for them as it feels like they've been shafted by someone. The fact they are selling off everything at cost suggests they are in need of freeing up cashflow to help them get re-established without Fox quickly. Either that or Fox have peeved them off so badly that they are happy to dump a load of stock on the market and kill any sales for the next few months. I did feel slightly like a vulture when I walked out with a Transfer post and 1x lever for £200 but they said they were happy to see people getting bargains so it does suggest the split isn't an amicable one.

I really hope Mojo don't disappear as I've always had good service from them. Add in that Chris Porter started the business from nothing, deliberately put it in a deprived area then employed local kids and trained them up and you have to feel sorry for them right now. I just hope that the situation can be turned around, preferably with them becoming the Welsh version of TFTuned. Don't forget that they are involved with the Fox Demo and servicing at BPW and they sponsor CwmDown uplift so it's not just the direct jobs at Mojo that this could affect.

Personally I think Fox are silly to drop Mojo, Mojo=Fox in the eyes of the UK scene so throwing away that 20 year association for MTB as well as the motorised side is a bit short-sighted. Good luck to the staff getting through this, not what you want at any time, let alone heading towards christmas. If Mojo emerges out the other side as a pure service centre I'll be putting business their way.

I did wonder if we might see some custom shocks and eventually forks from them.

It does seem odd that such a long standing patnership has gone sour so quickly. I do hope that Mojo weather the storm though.

If that is the case Milky, Fox appear to have lost the plot.... I dont buy RS partly because their distributor is terrible. Ive heard there has been cost cutting going on at Fox to, with even more of the business being moved to Asia.

That's a real shame for the Mojo lads.
Hope they manage to work something out and no one ends up without a job. 😥
They really do know their stuff and have been great to deal with.
I was in there last week and though it was a little subdued but Paul just said they were slowing down a little after the summer rush.

Pretty interesting though that even with these big discounts the transfer is still pretty much the same price as a 170mm reverb always is. Don't get me wrong, i want a kashima dropper to match my 36s 😆 But I have no idea how they sold a single one at full price.

So do you think Trek will be involved in a "you can only get Fox suspension on Trek products" kind of way or do you think they will be selling Fox aftermarket like Specialised do with Ohlins.

Well, if Trek have offered them a lucrative OEM deal.....I really hope Trek don't get their mitts on Fox. There will be a bazillion new standards within months if they do.

I suspect Mojo service arm is more than viable, they cost 20% more than most and are still booked up most of the time, opening up to other brands will only add to that.

How much of the business is there to handle distribution for fox though I don’t know - it doesn’t seem a massive place, I wonder if the bulk distribution is handled elsewhere.

If I was going to guess the reason I’d say Fox are cutting out the middle man and distributing themselves as they’ve just done in Germany.

Nasher's not given us much to go on, but it could be Trek agitating with Fox over warranty repairs somehow?

Since they'd be professionally involved with Mojo in that regard.

That hasn't been the case for well over a year now! Might be closer to 2... Ohlins is fair game for any independent to get hold of (if you don't mind the piss poor margins, the hefty buy in, and dealing direct with Europe as there's no UK distributor!).

Fox are bigger than just MTB stuff, I don’t see Trek buying fox just to have exclusive rights to fit their stuff on their bikes. Proprietary suspension stuff doesn’t have a great history, just ask Spesh and you’d be mad to buy Fox just to close 90% if it’s market, it just wouldn’t work.

Possibly not related, but a had a fox digital shock on back order from June. Eventually got word that a shipment was coming from Taiwan on a Friday in July - called a few days after, shipment did not arrive and they did not know why. This happened a few times - promised shipments not turning up. Eventually the pump turned up mid September. Talking to Fox, they said they had run out of many of their spares. Very odd behaviour by Fox not keeping their distributor informed.

Can't see how that would work.

Assuming that the bulk of Fox product in the UK is OEM, then sales would have been the icing on the cake for Mojo, majority of income would be servicing and warranty.. So, if Fox decide to take consumer sales in house, either direct or via shops, that's not a huge task- office, storage, laptop.
But taking warranty, and presumably authorised service agent status away from Mojo requires either setting up their own centre and training up staff, a costly and time consuming exercise, servicing in Europe, or replacing Mojo with another established outfit eg TFT.

This. Fox suspension having been floated on the stock market a while ago means that investors all want more, especially with the purchase of Marzocchi, Raceface and easton. Better in Fox's pocket than Mojo.

Also I don't see TF as a goer, if it was then it would mean them dropping every other brand they service.

Weren't Mojo on the verge of releasing a Dh fork years ago? It got canned cos' Fox brought the 40 out IIRC? I had a Mojo damper cartridge in a Boxxer years ago and remember it being excellent. It wouldn't be bad to see them do things like that again, they're obviously capable of it.

Certainly seems like a good idea, Push make their own shock now, Vosprung are a TFT like service centre that make cool little tuning stuff. Rider like cool dampers and do-dah upgrades.

Yeah, I see Mojo going like PUSH to be honest - kicking out low volume British equivalents to the rather wonderful 11-6.

It'd be great to see TBH, we could ride bikes that are almost entirely made in the UK - save for the drivetrain, if Mojo pull it off.

Rider like cool dampers and do-dah upgrades.

This, love my ACS-3 kit, it's like jewellery compared to the mass produced stuff... would love to try an 11-6.

If you ring up TF to book something in, they've pretty much solidly got a 3 week wait as it is already... They need to up their game to cope with their current workload way before thinking of taking on something like end to end distribution, service and warranty for a brand like Fox too!

That's just Porter though... He's always been a bit obnoxious. Nothing's ever changed I don't think, certainly it's not like it's news to Fox (who he's been representing in the UK for well over 15yrs now iirc) or anyone else!

Was that Chris Porter? I met him at 'Ard Rock, he'd clearly been speaking to people all day so was probably knackered! He was really nice and very approachable had loads of time for my daft questions so if it was him you met I had a totally different experience.

Think you might have the rose tinted specs on, that damper was pretty rubbish. Adjusting the rebound also changed the compression. Run too much damping and it felt gritty as they told me “the oil runs over a self-tapper we’ve got in there”. There wasn’t enough low speed damping even for skinny folk like me. Oh, and they blew up all the time!

I have a theory as to what will happen.

CP liquidates all Fox stock, sells shell of Mojo to Fox to become Fox UK.

CP still retains Mojo name. Carries on selling Geometrons and working closely with fox but developing his own line of suspension.

i heard a rumour today that Trek were pissed at Mojo, threatened to not spec any Fox forks/shocks on bikes next year as a result unless Mojo was binned as the UK distributor and service agent.

Trek have form for this sort of bullying, buying up cool brands and eventually or deliberately binning them, Klein, Fisher, Bontrager etc, not to mention shitting on Greg Lemond because he called out Armstrong for doping and as a result ruining Greg lemond's bike brand.

i think it's shit for the guys at Mojo, i have dealt with them and always had good service and have spoken to CP a few times on the phone and he's always been good to get advice from and helpful.

it wouldn't surprise me to see Fox go to Madison as Fox have a development tie up with shimano and i'm sure Madison would love too get their hands on a saleable product unlike the DT forks they currently sell. That said the Winwave tie up via marzocchi also makes sense.

Well, people including Trek aren't likely to get better service with Madison lol. I hope we get the details, maybe we can then look at boycotting or generally abusing Trek.

Well for those asking why Mojo are running stuff out at these prices, well nearly everything just sold itself with zero advertising and promotion, all it needs is some labels and postage chucking on and a big day for the courier over the next 2 days. Their bank account is able to pay off all their stock investment in under a week so they have cash or reduced debts for what comes next.
