My dilemma...
My new frame will have a 135x12 through axle rear end.
The hubs I want to use (Chris king single speed) come with 135x10 bolted axle or a 142x12 through axle.
Buy the right width and drill it out or lop 3.5mm off each end of the longer one?
CK hubs have steel inserts on the ends of the axles - it might not just be a case of lopping bits off?
On the other hand, the 135x10 use a 20mm OD axle and are internally threaded at the ends so if you don't need the threading then drilling them out isn't removing that much material overall?
That was my thinking, plus reduces the risk of any trimming of ends being skewiff...
although it introduces the risk of you making the hole in the middle off centre 🙂
couple of adjustable reamers will keep it all square (2mm from one reamer probably too much to expect)

Make sure that you still have sufficient thread remaining before you cut.....measure twice, cut once and all that guff.,
not only the axle overall length, but thread length as well.
Drnosh, I don’t want any threads left, I’m using a through axle 😊
