It's speedway time. This time under floodlights at Astley and Tyldesley. Those who've been know the score, but there still appears to be room for a couple more if anyone is keen.

List so far:

Tom Ryan
Richard Legge
and Mike
Hannah Dobson
Andrew Moore
Duncan Smith
Tony E
Gareth Evans
Daz Hall
Binners
Me
Andrew Spider
Lee Hunt
Jason

That's 14 so far. Any other takers that I don't know about? I'll reproduce this on the forum in a sec.

Vague plan is as usual - room for 16 people (and hangers on/crash junkies) to race cycle speedway bikes.

8pm onwards
£3.50 each - includes bike rental (take that, BMX!)
There'll be time for larking around and then a grid of racing - we'll all get to race everyone else over four heats. Under floodlights this time...

Bring a helmet, optional padding, but compulsory long sleeves and leggings and gloves.
Plus money for beer - at the subsidised miners' club house.

It's a fantastic bit of fun. Do the Youtubes for a better idea.

Pay on the night.

I'll be there. I've got a bad back (getting excuses in early!), so may not last the whole night but we'll see.

I'd have probably been able to make this but an insect bite sustained on last weekend's ride has turned into cellulitis in my leg. No exercise whatsoever for at least a week apparently....

I'm out. I'm on holiday Tuesday.

I'm under curfew as I have a history of doing my self harm the day before we go away...

I might still turn up n cheer....

They'd be warm - and you'd look cool and redneck. I think any sort of cycling tights/trackie bottoms will work.

If you want to get your 1980s stretch Farrahs out though, the crowd would go wild!

if it worked for shaun palmer...

(and as a kind of tribute, i'm gonna get "audi" tattooed up my forearm in the morning for true STW authenticity)

Thanks for organising again Chipps. Definitely up for another one sometime. No road rash or bits missing from fingers this time too 🙂

Normal service resumed next week. Something from the White House in Littlebrough seemed to be of interest so let's pencil that in.

Aaaaaagh, this is so annoying, we have an unused track 2 miles away, rumour has it Speedway bikes in a lock up, owned by a Parish Council who don't respond to any form of communication......grrrrr

Alright alright! It's 1/2 hour of footage unedited, so I'm going to chop it about a bit first, should get something done later on tonight.

Right, here you go:

Warning: contains standard MNPR profanity and heckling. I think I got everyone in there for a reasonable amount of time. Additional camerawork by Chipps and Andy and Rik and whoever else I handed the camera to when I was riding.

There are no crashes, sorry; inexplicably we all managed to not crash through the entire night. I should probably bring the camera with me on rides more often if it's going to have that effect...

Good work Tom. Loving dazh's one footed cornering technique and the look of concentration on HtS's face on the start line! 😀

Good stuff. 😀

Was the "Bell End!" comment was aimed at Chipps because this definitely drew out his inner dirty bastard?
