Soooo… the winner of the STW Christmas MegaSack™ is in town and has requested that he comes on a ride with us. Surely the best prize of all?

Important Note: Wait until we know where the prizes are before doing the deed.

Golden Lion, Todmorden

8:15 Blast Off

Bring money for beer, a shovel and an alibi.

Who grassed me up?  I didn't mean it, I don't even ride bikes really.

Yes I did strike it lucky with the mega sack and will be visiting STW to collect the goodies.  As I'm in the area I thought it would be nice to meet some of the MNPRers and see what proper mountain biking is all about (I'm a southern shandy drinker, it's all flat down here).  Doesn't have to start at Todmorden, I'm travelling so many miles a few more won't hurt.

Todmorden is quite remote. So on that basis we should stick with it.

You'll be fine, there's no hills in Todmorden, nope, definitely not. 😀

I'm in, provided I survive the last few days of this ski trip in one piece.

Count me in, as long as I can sort out my rear mech before then.

You'll probably be able to pinch a new one from his car later on.

Golden Lion?

I hope you can play the banjo, or have a purdy mouth!

If not, they will make you dance.

You've picked the wrong route!

Your visitor would enjoy seeing Scotsmans Stump near the San Marino descent. It's a memorial to a traveller from distant lands, cruelly robbed and murdered up on the moors by local ruffians . . .

Right, I checked out two routes today. Both involve bloody big hills and big descents. One involves some rocks, the other a bog. Take your pick 🙂

Given the almost perfect conditions I think recreating Binners poster in real life will be the best idea.

I was just going to tag along on whatever the ride was this week and now everyone wants to bury me in a shallow grave before I've even arrived😯

I'm actually staying in Rochdale, thought that was near the epicentre of your usual rides (don't come looking, I'm hiding)

Pah, amateurs. No quicklime in the “to bring” list. I on the other hand have a plastic lined room and 9 hungry pigs! 😉

Surely this is the sort of thing only said by someone who has never been to Rochdale before. Has anyone heard from RB this morning or do I need to re-draw the mega sack?

Alive and well in Rochdale, sack collection imminent😀

What can I say about Rochdale, it was cheap and conveniently located. Best Western is at most only 50% true and it isn't all that western

I'm not going to make it to the ritual killing tonight I'm afraid chaps. My totally knackered knee really doesn't like sub-zero temperatures and pretty much seizes up now in this weather. I'm falling apart basically. When is spring finally going to turn up? 🙁

That's not sun, it's where the foil has peeled off the windows of a grow room.

I'm out too. I did a 2 hour "Senior Grades" Karate course yesterday and as a result my battered body has seized up.

It feels like I've done 10,000,000 press ups. Probably because I did 10,000,000 press ups. Everything aches. If I had hair that would ache too.

Susan-San.

A possible broken wrist and a sprained ankle. Think we might have got off lightly there. That ice was somewhat lethal. Hope the wounds heal soon.

It was somewhat eventful. My pedal fell off at the top of the techy descent. Still, at least no one fell off the cliff 🙂

Thanks for your hospitality MNPRers, was quite an action packed ride 🙂  Hope no one hurts too much

Shame not to meet Binners or Harry_the Spider but I guess they say you should never meet your heroes anyway.

I'm now safely back in the south where it is a toasty -5

Was it any easier one legged?  I struggled with two

Your wrist looked worryingly swollen.  Rib will be fine just don't laugh, sneeze or cough.
