Just avoided the royal wedding by going out on the moors. It’s bone dry up there, and interstellar is riding faster than a greased ferret .... right up until you hit the pit of the eternal stench at the bottom, which, bizarrely, is a solitary axle-deep bog.

i’m just flagging this up now so that when I fail to mention it on Monday, and it claims some victims, I can say I warned you 😂

A knackered shoulder rules me out for at least a few weeks I'm afraid. Probably not a bad thing given my history of spannering myself on that hill.

It has bitten you a few times, hasn't it?

Well another days glorious sunshine to dry out the dry trails yet further.

Who's playing out then?

Usual rules apply. I'll see you up at the shoulder

Yeah, I'm in. Looking forward to it. Will drag the troops up to meet you if nobody else is there for cat-herding duties.

I'm not due to being disorganised and not wanting to injure myself the week before a holiday.. someone else will have to replicate my OTB from the snowmageddon ride 🙂

Is there a single one of us who hasn't come a cropper on one of the Holcombe Hill descents?

I'm going to guess at Daz, and ...erm..... no... Just Daz

The Finger Chute (which Harry will be pleased to hear, we're not  riding tonight) has a particularly long and auspicious injury list

Good news is that my bike has arrived, the other good news is so has the baby.

Bad news is that we're still trying to escape the hospital.

I'll probably get a pass to ride once it starts raining again

Yes I’ll be there tonight. I am also bringing a newby. He lives In the area and does a bit of mtb. He won’t be the fastest, but I am pretty sure he won’t be the slowest!

We're not doing the finger chute? In these conditions?

Having consulted with The Boss I might be able to make this!

I've never ridden an MNPR before -- I'm assuming it's OK to just turn up?

You are very welcome to just turn up. We set off for about 8:15 and get back for about 10pm. You will need lights for the last bit of the ride. I usually arrive for about 8 to get set up.  Some of the more social guys have a beer, some with longer journeys generally make a quick get away.

Tom ... there is the initiation ceremony for Newbies up on the moors, but we can't describe it on the internet. Try not to worry about it too much though

Scaled... congrats on the new arrival!! See you next year! 😀

Daz - We might be able to squeeze the finger chute in. I know Harry loves it 😀

Oi!

Point of order.

1) I don’t mind the Finger Chutes. The only time I engage FSM (Full Susan Mode) is down the front of Stoodley, because the previous two attempts have resulted in me snapping bits off.

2) Nice one Mr & Mrs Scaled. See you in 2019.

3) Hello Chvck & Tom. There is additional parking on the lane immediately left after the Hare and Hounds if the carpark is full. Nobody gets dropped on these rides unless a) It is the annual every man for himself assault on Pendle Hill or b) You are a bit of a ****.

No need to worry about a) tonight.

Binners, for the initiation I'll bring the courgettes if you bring the ping-pong bat.

I thing the previous record was four, so I'll get a couple of bags full.

Thanks Binners, Harry, and Mike.  I will get my lights on to charge and keep fingers crossed that the kids go to bed nicely this evening.

Full Rammy contingent in da area tonight. Newbies, old staggers, returning refugees and Team JMC

Harry - if you’ve got two bags of courgettes, then maybe we up the ante a bit with a croquet mallet?

Great ride last night, and a cracking turnout. Nice to ride that route down through Redisher that’s an unrideable mud-slide for 363 days a year.

If we told you, we'd have to kill you.

You'll have to come out on a Monday Night Pub Ride mate, and be initiated into the brotherhood 😀

I would, but we're usually back in the pub by the time you set off 😉

We will make the effort one day.....

Thanks for having me along, it was a good ride!  Scrabbling down the finger chute with dust billowing in the bike lights was particularly fun 🙂
