I will be there. In spite of hardly doing any of these for the past year this is going to be my last MNPR before I move to Scotland.

I might be there depending on bike situation its in getting a service before my trip.

and before anyone says anything about being lazy i currently am having to move my 18x9 meter lock up thats full of cars and renovate my rental house and I am swapping jobs.

Its all just landed 2weeks before my holiday too.

but there is still more chance of me being there than Binners turning up! 😛

Fingers crossed I won't be too broken from the Three Peaks the day before. OK, I'll probably be broken from the Three Peaks the day before...

Arrgh! I'm supposed to be wining and dining a new recruit Monday night (hopefully he'll be a little more successful than the one that recently tried to get me fired!) but will find an appropriate excuse so I can make this.

Hang on isn't the Chetham Arms the place where no one has ever turned up for a MNPR????

I can't ride, as I'm still hobbling round like some kind of pirate, but I think I'll pop over and meet you after for fizzy pop and crisps. Is my social membership still valid?

If I can find my mojo - and my mountain bike for that matter, then I'll be there.

Alright, Prestwich I can do. I shall be there (although I won't be very fast on account of not having ridden a bike in two months).

Cool. Ask Rik.

We owe it to Jason to get a big turn out as MNPR was originally his and my idea.

Could or would? 🙂

Seriously though, Turton is the Bermuda Triangle of MNPRs. In the past year I think we tried round there 5 times and every single one didn't happen. Also Jason gets to show us round the some Prestwich esoterica one last* time.

*Until we can organise an away-day and do some Kirroughtree esoterica 🙂

An away day? We can't even do a local ride....

I'm out as I'm sans bike at the moment. Might turn up for a beer though

Bike ride, a pint and crisps. Tell them that's always what's done with newbies.

I've just had to stick my night riding glasses back together with sugru because I'd forgotten I dropped them on the platform at Carlisle train station after Ride to The Sun... in June 😳

Top notch Tour o'Prestwich there Jason!

To add to the bizarreness of the closed motorway and our homeward journey through Bacup this evening, the mad old Lancashire-badge-blazered codger that was escorted out of the pub was (literally) shaking his fist and flipping us the vees as we drove up the road. He got a cheery thumbs-up in reply.
He then caught up with us and lobbed his bag of (empty?) glass bottles at my car.
Twice...
...before wandering muttering away into the pub at the end of the road. Wonder what cheered him up this evening? Did we lose at the crickets again?

All about normal for a Monday night pub ride, eh? Bet you won't get that kind of entertainment in small town Scotland, eh Jase? Oh, maybe you will... 🙂

Dammit it sounds like I left before the entertainment 😀

I thought he was there to promote the guest beer.

We're you following me? Sorry about the funny route home. I got north of the m60 and realised I had no idea where I was so kept going!

the closed motorway

We ended up with Google maps trying to send the van down a cycle path, and then doing half a mile along a random potholed farm track for some reason. Didn't get home til nearly midnight.

Worth it though, great to see folks, cracking ride, good to be out again. 🙂

The pub the old git ran into didn't seem enthused when I told them he'd been kicked out of the Church Inn and started throwing stuff at cars. I hope no one ended up decking him, he seemed like he was having a bad time and probably just needed someone to sit and listen when he sobered up.

Yeah for a bit, we turned off at Rawtenstall though. Google Maps kept trying to put us on routes with closed roads… that were helpfully marked on Google Maps.

The pub that he went into wasn't The Forrester's by any chance? If so, he'll be dead by now.

Back in my youth I did spend the occasional evening getting absolutely smashed in there on Joey Holt's finest and cheapest beer. The day after felt you had been given an enema with a golf umbrella.

Curiously there used to be a piano in the toilets. But I digress...

Did he damage the car or did his missiles fall short?

Mr Cantercerous old sod has given me some purpose in life. I aim to be even more ill-tempered and anti-social than him! 🙂

The lady behind the bar didn't look like him being an arsey git was an altogether new experience for her
