I’ll be out. Thought we were going to a pub called the Irwell Iron Works Brewery?

There's nothing worse than arriving at the end of a ride to find a closed pub

It's a bit of a 'getting the band back together' evening. Neither me, Daz or Lee have ridden for over 6 weeks. The pace will be less-than-blistering, even by our usual standards

Oh the level of smugness on this thread is fairly nauseous

I'd imagine but I'm on the smuggee side so I'd not know.

Righty ho. It appears that rumours of my return were a touch premature. I got out on the bike on Friday and the knee held up. But after a day spent walking repeatedly up and down the Rake at yesterdays hill climb I'm properly suffering today

I'm trying to sort guiding duties out, as there's no chance I'll be riding tonight 🙁

Meh. Douglas Bader got over his “dodgy knees” faster than you.

If nobody can guide from the hare and hounds I can do one from rawtenstall going over to Lee quarry and returning through craft.

Unless Binners’ alternative guide doesn’t show up how about we do:
Tower
Chutes
Pilgrim’s Cross
Interstellar
Tower
Redisher Woods

And Lee Quarry next week?

Actually, I quite like "The Horse Shoe and Reservoirs", but I don't think that anyone else does.

FFS.

Anyone got a plan for Rammy or should we do Rawtenstall tonight?

I think I'd opt for a tour de Reservoirs. The moors are just a quagmire at the moment. As Baz can testify. He was a little bit mucky when he got over to us yesterday

Have we got a guide though? I know my way round The Horse Shoe, but I'll get lost on the ressies and will end up bring us back along a few miles of road, which is less than optimal.

Right then...

Not got time to be piss-balling about with this.

Gaz - Name your pub. We'll do Rawtenstall.

I'll fire off an email to everyone telling them to check this thread.

Well this is going well isn't it. The MNPR Bermuda triangle strikes again 😀

And what's all this we-can't-go-there-because-it'll-be-muddy rubbish? It's the Pennines in the autumn, not bloody california!

Anyway I'm being (slightly) non-committal as I woke up this morning with a dodgy back, if someone decides where to go I'll do my best.

Where is Craft? Can't find it on a map.

All weather in Rammy is easy

H&H
Moor Road
Robin Hood's Well
Behind Anacapri then over road to trail to Irwell Vale
Up Hardsough Lane
Right at the stables at A56, then left over the bridge

Then either left to fish rake lane and up that way or right and do the drop off behind the drop off cafe
Michael Wife Lane
Then one of the three descents down the hill back to Rammy (there are more)

moor lane is muddier than usual because of the works atm but apart from the odd patch of mud it's a solid all weather route

I actually quite enjoyed the stupidity of that!

I don't care how sloppy Interstellar is, it can't be as bad as the bog above Lee Quarry. MTFU.

where did you end up going?

Interstellar is only any fun with speed, otherwise its just a plod through a field. in those conditions id rather ride past it to the trig then descend off the front of harcles and pick up the footpath into the quarry - good run that actually, dont do it enough!

Well, last night we set the bar very low as to what is acceptable or not. Anything better than this in future is a goer so lets not have any more of this too muddy/wet bollox. 😀

Shall we try Rammy again next week? We desperately need a pub that will be open. I'll lead if no locals are around.
