i want to reduce the stack height on my current ride.

i am limited to just a few options as the frame takes a tapered intergrated is42/52 headset.

my choices are fsa (which i have at the mo), cane creek or superstar.

my current top cap is 15mm and i want to get down below 10mm. i don't really see the need to fork out for a full headset, so i am thinking of just buying a top set of bearings with low-stack top cap.

as far as i can see, even if i mix cane creek with fsa, the fact that they are operating at different ends of the headtube shouldn't make any difference, and therefore i will not die.

is this true?

They're just ways of holding a little tube inside a big tube. Can't see a problem.

all they are doing is carrying the bearings. Should be no issue at all.

i'm sure someone will point it out if you ever post a photo on here.

But technically, all good to do that.

The upper bearings of my headset collapsed (5 minutes into an enduro last year 🙄 ) and I replaced just the upper bearing & cup with a Hope one. No problems at all
