Firstly I asked this in another thread and didn't get an answer so hoping for better luck here, secondly I've searched around but also not found a conclusive answer either.

So, question is, can you use a sram GX rear mech with a shimano or sunrace 11-46 cassette?

I got a reasonable deal on the rear mech which is sitting in the garage but have since found that the XD driver for my rear wheel is £90. So I thought about fitting a 11-46 cassette instead of the 10-42 (similar range) but the rear mech says maximum cassette ring size is 42.

Any help greatly appreciated - cheers

The 11-46 is actually a lower spread I think. Honestly the sram stuff IMHO is better all over at 11sp

I would much prefer to have the sram cassette but I'm not even sure the XD freehub body fits my hub. I have crank bros wheels on my old full sus bike and after doing some research their website says it's not compatible with the qr axle that I have anyway. So sram cassette sadly isn't an option.
