I don't know if these components are too new to the market for people to have any experience mixing and matching them, but I'm trying to spec a winter bike with Shimano 5800 105 but fit some long drop BR650 callipers to it.

I understand the new Shimano brakes have a different lever pull (more cable pulled) which means they would be quite 'wooden' with old style callipers. I suspect that fitting long drop callipers would exaggerate this.

Anyone tried it?

I run them (BR650) with my Ultegra 6800 DI2 levers and them seem to work fine, if that helps at all?

I've also ran deep drops with Ultegra 6800 levers on my winter bike, no problem
Doesn't feel as nice as the full Ultegra 6800 setup, wether that's due to cable pull or the deep drop been an older design, but it's no big deal

Thanks gents, I guess it's one of those wee compromises you have to make on a winter bike, I've been seriously impressed with the full 5800 brake set up on my summer bike, genuine one finger braking on the end of the levers.

Cheers
