After an unfortunate meeting with a stump on a tight local trail my slx non ds crank arm is fubar'd

I think it is beyond saving as the threads are damaged causing the pedal to point upwards and the arm itself is bend outwards from the bike. Can it be saved? Even if it could be I don't think I'll be able to trust it

I've put a alivio crank on from my hardtail in its place and put the pedal back on and it looks fine.

It is a nukeproof mega and I don't baby it so will it hold up?

Gonna go for a test ride now , I'm eager to fix it as I had a full weekends riding planned cause I'm working solid all week next week.

I'm going to order a replacement set but I imagine it will be fine for now as long as I steer clear of stumps.

Cheers in advance

My 105 driveside and Sora non-driveside have been fine for ages. Probably not ridden as hard as a Mega but even so.

You'll be fine

Thanks hopefully it will be

Have you ever tried to save the threads on a crank? Could heli-coil it but theres not much material around the hole so I think it will be a bin job

Forget the helicoil and wondering if it will be ok.... Just get on and ride what you have now.

You will of course die, but in good time and not from a failing pedal/crank interface scenario.
