a mate has a Turner 5spot and its fussy about its front mech - it has an XTR triple fitted and all is good with the 3x9 drive train.
owner wants to fit 11speed double set up.
Can he use his 9 speed XTR as non of the bargain XT gruppos seem to come with the right front mech they are all direct mount.
Anyone done this successfully ?
I'd be tempted to try it with the current mech and shifter to see it it would work with the 11. Adjust the stop on the mech so the shifter can only do one change instead of 2. Did this with a 9 speed some years when swapping from 3x to 2x and it worked fine.
No idea if it would work or not but worth a shot before shelling out for new stuff.
Madison rep told me my 10spd double mech would work with my 11spd double, so it should work.
that was my thoughts as well , just thought there might be some turnerites on here who have done it - knowing full well they are fussy frames for front mechs.
