What's the bridleway like in Miterdale? Here - http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=316542&Y=503225&A=Y&Z=120 . Worth doing? If so, which direction? I'd be returning to Boot/Eskdale Green from Burnmoor Tarn.

It's OK. Bit boggy in places but otherwise it's fine.
Don't know how you are getting from the tarn, but it always used to be PIA getting up there from Wasdale Head.

Ta. We'd be either heading up from Eskdale Green and back down to Boot or vice versa, probably starting somewhere around Blawith (south end of Coniston Water) and bivvying over there. The BW up from Wasdale Head Hall Farm is on this year's long JennRide route.

I've done that anticlockwise which I think would be right, as that bw was a decent descent whereas the one down to Boot didn't seem like it would be anything special - not tried it though.
The climb out of Boot was OK - recollect I did it in a dry spell and there was a short push at the start but then you could spin up over the moor no bother. Looked like it would be boggy in the wet. I went round the top of Burnmoor Tarn to the cairn and the first part of the bridleway back down Miterdale was properly invisible, just not there, so perhaps it is better to turn left round the bottom of it.

Aye turn left early and go past the old house by burmoor tarn, it's a bit of a Scrabble back up to the be but a nice contouring ribbon down to the fence, don't follow the fence line down but follow it up and right to the gate. It's then a grassy bomb down to the farm/track before it levels out. If you have time follow the fire roads up to the top of the perpendicular (N-S) bw in mitredale forest and razz down it, that's a blast!

As G-L and thestabiliser said, the BWs both from Wasdale head and from Boot towards Burnmoor Tarn are mostly ridable uphill, but the downhill to Wasdale would be more boring that the one to Boot. Do take the BW that you pointed to instead, going South-West, in my opinion one of the nicest descents around.
Before you get to Burnmoor Tarn (from Boot), turn left indeed, go past the old derelict house, then 'scrabble' back up until you cross the BW. It's fairly narrow, a couple of stream crossings, and a little exposed on your left, and all the better for that reason. As thestabiliser said, turn right when you have the fence to your right until you see a wide farm track, that's a fast downhill. Once you are past (through really) Miterdale Farm, either continue straight through the Woods on the main BW, very nice woody singletrack, and you come out near the Bowerhouse Inn; or up the fireroad towards Irton Fell and back down again; or turn left after the farm onto the BW and then some lovely footpaths towards the Fisherground campsite, all very good.

We didn't get to Boot until gone 6pm, so after eating in the pub it was nearly dark when we set off. Mostly walked the climb as it was pretty wet and you couldn't get any rhythm going and you kept riding in to dead ends of bog or boulder fields because you couldn't see far enough ahead to avoid them.

Bivvied by the old lodge. This morning headed down Miterdale. Got some way down the track across the steep slope before nerves got the better of me so walked about 500m.

Not really relevant to the op now, but the bridleway from irton fell down through miterdale forest towards eskdale green is brilliant

My preference would be to take the path from Burnmore Lodge over Eskdale moor to the Stone Circles on Brats Moss. Then pick up the footpath to Blea tarn. The turn left and down a brilliant downhill track which spits you out at Beckfoot station.

Some brilliant trails around there.

@el-boufador - that BW is what PostieRich currently has on this year's JennRide route as a climb to get from Eskdale Green over to Wasdale. On Saturday night as we were climbing up to Burnmoor Tarn there was a rider heading the other way (to meet up with Rich) and he said it was basically pushing up an enduro track!

Better to stick to the fire road, especially on a loaded bike - Hammer Pass. Not been since all the felling work. The BW you originally asked about is great Bob - from Miterdale, along and down to Burnmoor. Not the best option from Wasdale. My preference is along the ridge from the lodge to the stone circle, then descend through the old buildings to Boot.
