I currently have a 170mm crank set on my whyte and need to replace one of the crank arms as it is knackered.

The only replacement I can find at the moment is 172.5mm.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience. I doubt that I'll even notice tbh but I have a slight angst just in case I end up crippling myself ...

Reckon it will be fine for short term, if you have clippless you could tweek on of the cleats 2.5mm . But unfortunalty and hopefully many years later at somepoint you will die, possibly in some way related to crank length.

Most people have one leg shorter than the other, hope it's the right way round!

Because of a borked knee I have 165 & 175 cranks. I hardly notice that difference. I would therefore suggest you'll get away with it.

I had 175/172.5 on a road bike for 3years without realising. However I did end up with knee pain on one side, no idea if that was coincidental.

172.5mm bought for the Left to go with my 170mm on the right. If you see me going around in ever decreasing circles with a bandaged knee you'll know why...

Will you not end up going in circles?

Kittens dead, children's face, bike explosion. In blind tests I doubt most people would even notice 2.5mm.

Send the 172.5 back and get a 170 and not have the worry?

Did you try this in the end gridkad?

Or are you now injury riddled due to the mismatch? 😉

Podiatrist recently told me my left leg is shorter than the right. Only took them 48yrs. Imagine all the cranky-bother and injuries I could've avoided over the years if only I'd known to spec 2mm shorter drive-side arms? 😉

I recall a thread on here once about the difference in crank length (equal sides) where a few of us confessed to never realising we didn't have 175mm cranks, and then lovely sfb popped up saying he didn't realise for a couple of years that his left and right ones were 5mm different! (Those of you familar with sfb's bike may not find this all that suprising, but he certainly put some miles in on them! )
