I love Mint Sauce. The comic was a fundamental element of my formative teenage years, and I'm very glad he's still going. When I got back into mountain-biking properly again after the best part of a decade away, Mint was about the only thing I recognised in an MBUK full of scary stuff like disc brakes and body armour and 160mm travel forks.

Haters are, of course, completely entitled to their opinions.

I wouldn't say I'm a hater, it just leaves me fairly nonplussed.

Aaah Mint Sauce. Coincided with my getting into mountain bikes, just seemed to sum it all up very nicely. Brake boosters, PooBahs, dart/smokes. Sigh.

Whether it's a case of "getting it" or just understanding how he is such an ordinary being, with yearnings for greater things, hampered by the ordinary around him. I suppose it's like any art... different pieces move different people in different ways.

I read in an interview once that they were song lyrics. I guess itsjust a bit too leftfield for me.

I've got about a 50% hit rate but just occasionally one really, really gets me. "Thanks for the bike dad" being one.

And I'd totally buy a collected Mint Sauce book, if it was good quality images and as long as absolutely no part of the manufacturing, inventory control, cash handling or dispatch was handled by Jo Burt. Good quality prints would be good too.

I've got a 'mint' copy of the Eternal Reek of Damp Wool sat in my bedroom drawer - one day it will be worth a fortune - or perhaps not!

I have only ever read Mint Sauce when I forgot how much of a crock of cack MBUK is and ended up buying a copy. Occasionally it's struck a chord, so the "ReSauce" link above maybe a way in.

It can be good - the artwork is excellent, and when it's focused and funny (the 'is my bike okay' and the escaping lungs strips spring to mind) it's great. Too much whimsy (aka self indulgent bedwetting) most of the time though.

Just spent lunch scouring for Mint Sauce clothing; fancy diplaying how old/stupid I am this year.

Gort lost in a world of nostaligia; for me it was the fact that it was how I saw cycling back then - it WAS sunny when I cycled during holidays and cycling was the first time in my life that I really did start to appreciate nature/beautiful things etc, sometimes just dropping the bike and sitting in a field - just like the cartoon...that was all part of it.

Anyhow, I am still am no closer to understanding whether it's still going, whether there is antything produced in the way of clothing, what the hell has happened to MBUK and the "site" (it's like something from when the internet first started) and probably will just have to put up with some dull fox stuff...

Oh, and bump.

Harps back to a fun time in my life when all there was was riding, surfing and fun. Work was there to buy bikes, boards and hideously bright clothing.
Never met Me Burt so cannot comment on the man, but his cartoons made me smile.

I loved it. As Roger says, harks back to simpler times of endless rides without all the pressures of real life. Once I reached 14 and grew too old for MBUK, Mint was the only part that I missed.

I like mint because the artwork and sentiment appeals to me. I liked the key ring but mine broke so I wanted another, they weren't available and hence was born the anyone got a key ring thing, someone sent me theirs gratis so it all worked out in the end!

Never really read the cartoons....the few that I've seen were pretty meh. The mint sauce keyring thread and was hilarious!!! The end results really were guff and ludicrously expensive too!!

I grew up riding the South Downs in the late 80's early 90's when those bikes Mint and gang rode were in vogue.

I still picture the perfect ride in the same hues as the cartoon, and can visualise where along the ridge most of the views are inspired from.
