Would a Maxxis Minion 2.5 be ok on a 25mm internal rim?

Was running them on Flow EX 25.5mm rims for years with no issues.

You mean current WT 2.5? No. Needs 29mm and up really.

Mike probably means the old 2.5, which I ran fine on 24mm internal.

I think if you didn't know it was a WT, you wouldn't care.

Running my DHF 2.5" WT on AR27 (27mm internal) rims, no issues at all.

Er, I’ve run a 2.5WT all summer on a Mavic XL which is 23mm internal but I only tend to ride the Peak. I guess it may be a different story if I was railing berms to the max at a trail centre.

If you don't care where the side knobs kick in, you can mount any tire on any width rim. I have a 2.5 WT on a 29mm, and a 2.4 WT on a 27mm… both good. Any narrower and you'd have a pretty vague patch when leaning… especially if you ended up running higher pressures to stop squirm.

Really, what you run it on? Going well here, nice and grippy too along with good old minion predictable

I’ve got a dhf 2.5 wt which I’ve been running on a DT Swiss e1900 650b wheelset which are 25mm internal diameter. Seemed ok to me - certainly better than the 2.3 dhr2 that I was running on there before - both in grip and predictability. Same compound rubber.

There are more than a few DH bikes being raced on ex471 25id rims this weekend at world championships.

In a blind taste test I doubt you'd notice.

DHF 2.5 WT works really well on a Flow EX (25.5mm internal). As do the DHR2 2.4 WT and Shorty 2.5 WT.

Running about 24psi at 13 stone odd. And I hate squirm.

Running one up front on a Ryde 26mm ID rim.

To be honest it's no bigger than the Bonty Xr4 2.35 it replaced.
