I want to reduce the space my bikes take up. So am looking for some system to store 4 bikes in the corner of a room. I want something where I can hang the bikes vertically by the front wheel, kind of pack them in tightly but be able to get at any bike easily without having to remove other bikes. A couple of the bikes are ebikes so quite heavy and they have differing wheelbases.
So what are my available options?
Sounds like the Stashed Spacerail is what you are after.. there was a thread not too long ago that suggested some DIY alternatives.
I think you can save space by storing without the front wheel on axle chocks.
The different wheelbase can be a benefit here.
I have 4 stored in a shed like this, including one heavy mo fo of an eeb.
Having the bikes grounded on back wheels helps a lot with the ease of getting them in and out of place.
You can pack them in fairly well like that, nice and close together and with the benefit of the front end being closer to the wall so less likely to interfere when close to them.
I mounted the home made fork axle blocks at an angle so that all the bars are tilted one way.
Works really well.
Unistrut, screw in hanger, sliding mount on bearings. Trail_rat did it and a few other have as well, you can either buy it off the shelf or not pay through the nose and knock your own up.
