Hi all,

Need a new pump to carry around the trails (in my bag).

Not looking for the smallest/lightest pump, although don't want anything huge/heavy
Decent pump action
Able to pump both Schraeder and Presta (so thinking a dual head, so less faffing changing inserts with cold hands in the rain)
Reasonably priced.

Any thoughts?

(If anyone has anything suitable for sale, please say)

Ta, Duane.

Topeak MTN Morph, lots of version to suit, though the STD version suits me.

I recently picked one of these and was quite impressed. It has a fold down clip that you can put your foot on and use like a mini track pump. Pressure gauge, presta or schrader. I did look at the topeak one but the tube was about half the length of this.

Any with two separate heads? I use Schraeder, but a few of the people I ride with use Prestas, so will be pumping up both types, and hate having to fiddle around with inserts etc to change between valve types.

Only half decent one (well, it's £11 so probably not that decent) I've found so far, but it's not in stock 🙁

Plus the CrankBro ones, but never been a fan of a lot of their gear :/

Are there any pump valves which can accept both valve types without having to change anything?

that lezyne does both just by screwing the hose on one way round or the other.

Oh OK, awesome. Are the cheaper versions any good? Not overly fussed about it looking all fancy.

For example, will this still be decent?
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=74109

So the hose actually screws onto the Scraeder/Presta valves right, instead of just clamping on like most pumps do?

Yep they screw on. The hose is a great idea as it stops you pulling pushing on a presta valve.

Dunno if this helps but the alloy one from Stoner above is available for around £20 if you shop around.

Thanks.

How does it compare to this one;

Which seems to have good reviews, apart from one guy saying it didn't work on his Schraeder valve, which is a tad worrying...

Cheaper one has a plastic handle. Apart from that they look v similar.

That's bull about the Scraeder - I use mine with both and its fine.

Another one for the lezyne mini drive. Had the topeak mtn morph before but they don't last. The beauty of the lezyne design is using the old school flexi hose means theirs no pressure on the valve so no chance of deforming it. Look at the newer lezyne mini drives which have the high pressure hose which you can also use with CO2 cartridges:

I'm using the lezyne mini floor pump it looks like a mini track pump best pump I've ever used a lot faster than the hand held ones does both types of valves to! Crc £30 also has the gage on the tube fits bob on in my salomon xa20 pack!

Thanks.

Hmm, I'm getting pretty confused with the Lezyne pumps, there seems to be the Alloy Drive and Pressure Drive, only difference is that the Pressure can go to 120psi, whereas the Alloy only to 90?

Can the Alloy pump up quicker though, as it's in the HV (high volume I'm guessing) category on their site, rather than HP (high volume)?

Been looking for myself too to replace my Topeak. The Lezyne HP pumps are very tempting and should last a fair amount of time too

Duane, used both the 90psi and 120psi lezyne & tbh did not notice any noticable difference in pump times to fill a mtb tire up.

If you are worried your going to be spending more time pumping than riding, the lezyne version will not let you down.

BTW if you go onto their website, they do loads of mini pumps, if you do want to get even more confused 😉

OK fair enough, may as well go for this one then;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lezyne-Pressure-Drive-Bike-Bicycle-Mini-Micro-Pump-LOOK-/150577439724?pt=UK_Sports_Leisure_Cycling_BikePumps_SR&var=&hash=item68c75ba815#ht_1769wt_1037

Seeing as it can get higher pressures, and is lighter.

To be honest, I don't get that many punctures (touch wood), but seeing as I'm buying one, may as well try get the best one I can 😛

Haha yeah, had a look on their site, tad baffling 😛
