What is the performance effect of fitting mini vees with normal vee brake levers & any other problems with doing so? Which mini vees have the longest arms?

I've got an old roadie tandem on which full length vee brakes look silly and a Sirrus where the vee brakes clash with front rack I want to fit. Thanks.

My understanding was that mini Vs are smaller so as to work with Road pull brakes. You can put full size/mtbpull Vees on, but you need a "travel adjuster" thingummy to change the ratio of cable pulled by the road brake.

mini v's have shorter arms and so require less cable travel to make them work.

I've got some tektro mini vs, fitted but unused if you want to try? £15 posted? I couldn't get them to work on my old raleigh - rims too wide and narrow canti boss spacing. I went for Shimano CX50 canti brakes instead. No complaints at all.

Thanks Ned - I can see that mini vees are for road levers, I'm just wondering what will happen if I use mini vees with proper vee brake levers?

I've swapped the fatter washers to the outside of the arms when fitting vees to cantilever mounts btw

Ned - which tektro mini vees do you have, could certainly give them a whirl on my Sirrus and see what they are like
