I'm driving from MK to Warrington on Thursday so I'm looking for somewhere to stop off and ride along the way.
Don't mind traveling a bit out of my way or taking the 'scenic route' if there's some good riding, I've got all day to get there. I've done Llandegla before a couple of times and the FOD uplift (actually further from Warrington than MK!) but I'm looking for other good stuff to try. The more technical/wooded the better really.
Also, I've got Friday to ride as well so if anyone has any recommendations for places that are reachable from Warrington then I'd be very grateful. I've heard Rivington Pike is decent? Is it just a matter of getting a map and heading for the bridleways? Where should I start in North Wales??
Thanks
Cannock is the obvious one. Then you have Macclesfied forest, there has been a few threads on here recently about that. Alternatively go up the M1 and Wharncliffe Woods north of Sheffield (super tech - you got shocks?) then across the Woodhead pass to Warrington.
Cannock all day, it's always a treat.
Cannock is a good shout for the way up
Macc forest might be quite snowy and icy.. Not been that way for a wee while, but read the other day that there was a fair amount of ice around
Rivington is good fun

This is quite a good route
Cannock or
Up the M1 to Chesterfield. Across the the Dark Peak. Do one of the many great rides. (Park near Lady Bower say)
It'll then be about an hour to manchester
Looks like Cannock is the one to go for then. Just looking at the website and it looks really good, didn't realise the site was so developed.
Wharncliffe is very tempting too, il save that one for when its warmed up a wee bit as Id imagine its a tad nippy up there at the moment!
Cheers for the Rivington route too - that'll be friday sorted I reckon
Cannock would be great midweek as it would be relatively quiet
Also a good choice for riding, you appreciate the flow of the trails cos you don't stop
