Well, 25 years of MTB, 70 years of living reached yesterday with a 22 mile ride. Always thought I would hang it up when I got there, but no, think I will just stay at it (despite Mrs. busydog's opinion). Don't think I will promise myself to still be at it at 75, but here's hoping (albeit a bit slower, more carefully and less risk taking)!!!

Top man! Good effort pops.

If I can still walk upstairs by the time I'm 70 then I'll be very happy.

Cool!
There's two blokes near me who took up mtbing in their mid 50's, and I guess are going on towards 70 now. One doesn't see so well now so pretty much has to follow the other and hope he doesn't crash. Still knock out about a 30 mile off-route each Sunday followed by 3-10 pints.
Animals 😀

I went out for a ride Sunday - on my regular Sunday morning off-road loop.
It was the muddiest I think I've ever seen it, and I was riding round thinking maybe I should give it a miss in future when its grim outside (I'm 40 next month) I then saw 3 other guys, all of whom must have had at least 10 years on me, and one of them must have been in his 70's...

Good on you for sticking with something you enjoy, which must be doing you good...

Congratulations, Busydog!! Proof that if you want to keep on keeping on, then keep on keeping on

With a bit of luck that's where I'll be in another ten years.

Many happy returns! If your better 7/8ths is concerned, why not ask her to send you to see Jedi for a days' skills training as a birthday treat! Hat's off chief, hope I'm still riding at 70 too.

Pace yourself, you've still got decades of riding ahead of you:

Just got to 25 years on an mtb before you [2011] but another 7 years to catch up on the age front. And I was worried about how many more years I had left on the bike, the answer is clearly-- lots-- if I can keep up busydogs style. All the best

Then there still is hope for more to come!!!
I'd get out in the mountains and probably never find my way back to the trailhead---and if I did, wouldn't be able to find my way back Albuquerque.

Well done!

I was speaking to an old family friend today, he asked what sort of bike he should get for a tour down through France. He wanted to reride a route he made as a schoolboy. He's now seventy five and is recovering from a knee replacement.

I might tag along with him.

Well done. I hope you are riding in 5 years.

As Mark Twain brilliantly put it;

"Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I have hope for the human race. ..."

And you Sir are indeed an adult.

And you Sir are indeed an adult.

Suppose I could find some who might not agree with that--especially family members who think at 70, one should be sitting in front of the TV, sleeping. One nice aspect of reaching a certain age is that you find that you really don't give a rat's @$$ what people think.

Bravo Dog!!!

My Dad hit 71 last month and still gets on his road bike fairly regular, managed 100 miles through the Northern Pennines in one day. His way of saying 'Old? what's that?'.

Don't know whether to be more impressed with the riding, or that you have the patience for this place! Got me wondering if I took up riding too young now 🙂
Thanks for the excuse to do stuff tomorrow rather than today 😉
