Hi
I currently have a Rallon X30 in a large, trouble is I am finding it feels too short when I'm riding. I'm looking at other bikes online mainly the 2016 Vitus Escape vr comparing reach between the two. The difference between the xl vitus to L Rallon is only 2mm.
Basically my question is how much of an idea can i get from looking at these measurements as the difference appears to only be small compared to what it actually feels like in person.
i know really there is no substitute for actually sitting on the bike in person, hope I've made some kind of sense in that
thanks
Tom
Not a stupid question and the reason you've not had any answers is because possibly a lot of people don't know the exact answer you're looking for. Me included, I think I know, but I probably don't.
My general understanding is that reach will tell you how a bike feels out of the saddle, if you find you're current bike too short when stood up then likely this one will be too. If its too short when seated then the same reach but with a slacker seat angle will give you more room.
Stack also makes a difference, but buggered if I can remember which way round it is. Thinking about it probably a higher stack for the same reach will feel longer.
If its too short when seated then the same reach but with a slacker seat angle will give you more room.
Seated length will only feel longer if the top tube measurement is longer. It's not necessarily affected by reach

Have you ridden them both? Otherwise all you can guess is that the Vitus will be ever-so-slightly longer
I think bit not sure on is the relevance of those measurements to how affected how it felt. but that makes sense now. i hadn't considered the seat angle, i find the bike short when seated pedalling so definitely something to look at. i guess it proves really have to just sit on a vitus, was only comparing sizing before deciding to take plunge and order one off of CRC
You do realise that reach is the horizontal distance from bottom bracket to bars? It's a useless measurement for working out how things feel when seated
i wasn't sure of the relevance in the measurements, this is why i asked the question to begin with. the reason i compared reach because the vitus states effective top tube length whereas the Orbea states top tube length as i understand these are different measurements so not worth comparing the two. They both state the reach so worked on the assumption if ones longer than the other it must be a longer to some degree.

yes but for a given reach a bike with a slacker seat angle will have a longer effective top tube measurement no?
