Heading to CYB for a couple of days riding this weekend. Having not been to North Wales for a couple of years, would there be the nightmare problem with Midges that we've traditionally encountered at Afan this time of year?
Just wondering if I need to stock up on a load of repellant from Boots.
Cheers
I've lived South and now North, and haven't noticed any in either!
I've never seen so many midges in one place as at Coed y Brenin last year. That was about this time of year.
If they like eating you deffo get some repellent. If you are camping or in your van, get some citronella tea lights or something for whilst you sit round. Maybe try the old marmite sandwich thing too (apparently they dont like marmite-based sweat). Some of our armed forces friends swear by Avon "skin so soft" cream too, midges dont like that either.
I've got a nice row of bites where the edge of my helmet sits from riding at Cannock last weekend, looks like I've had a lobotomy now !
Last couple of times we've been to Afan it's coincided with warm temperatures and rain, end result being swarms of hungry midges. Becomes something when the locals in the "The Refresh" pub in Cymmer warn you not to go outside!
