Rode the Royal Rumble 4hr race at QECP last night (good fun). Left a bucket with my drinks and a container of gels trackside. Some kind soul helped themselves to all my gels around an hour and a half in.

seems to be a moral limit on what constitutes theft. Mate left his tool kit in car park at FoD (and we are talking pro mechanic level, complete with headset presses, reamers etc). It was handed in, and when he gratefully collected it the pack of zip ties and cable end crimps had gone! To him it was a cheap finders fee but still left him bemused.
Similar here. They left me my Hope battery, pump, allen keys etc. Just took the gels.
Did leave me a banana though to race for 4 hours on. Bless em.

This is why i do not like arenas i have to leave my kit lying around it . Much prefer to pit from the back of my van - not always possible mind
they were giving away gels free, you could have loaded up from the stand, grabbed more today, annoying during the race though i'm sure. put them in your pack/pockets next time?

I was racing at Goodwood once and had left my bottles in a crate trackside. As I approached after a lap I found someone drinking from one. Needless to say I let rip. They were amazed at my anger and said they thought they were communal bottles. Some people are just too stupid for words.
