There was a recent thread about microshifters as a replacement for shimano but my search skills cant seem to find it. Google just gave cheap e-bay gripshift types. Can someone point me toeards a dealer who has the 9spd variety for sale?

These?

Personally I'd pay the extra £3 for Deore- the Microshift ones are weird to use and feel very cheap.

I like the look of these, and an extra option for gears can only be a good thing. I might give the mechs a try soon to see what they're like.

The mechs are fine- seem decent enough quality. But the shifters are very bulky and quite unintuitive.

Yeah, I saw sense and have now ordered a pair of LX shifters from Merlin for £29.99 which seems a bargain

Heard about the shifters being a bit bulky, but don't they work the same as Sram ones, with two push buttons?

I've got Sram and Shimano ones, and seem to get on with both, though I can see why others might not.

GlitterGary-

No, they're not really the same as Sram. It's on large paddle, which is easy enough, but then quite a small fiddly little button that the bigger paddle is a bit in the way of.
