Hey. Has anyone tried the Michelin DH16 as a rear. Having an SL e-bike opens us up to using DH tyres for amazing grip. Just got one but not ridden yet. Will feed back.
Can’t doubt the advantage of a bit more traction on the seasons inevitable wet roots.
I’ve found the DH 22 amazing upfront. Up there in grip with the oft underrated Bontrager G5

No, however I did read that such tyres have noticeable (and measurable!) effect on range. I think someone had 30% less, which migbt be fine on a non lite bike.
thx Bikes & Boots. Yeah it will affect range for sure. I rarely use over 55% so should be ok. I hope I don’t need more boost or it will drop faster. In the dry I’d likely use a Big Betty soft rear. (Not extra soft). That’s been a great tyre this year once the Aggressor was out of its depth.
First outing on the KSL 1.1 with DH16 rear DH22 front wheel on Spank rims.
Very planted. Helps confidence on wet roots. No downsides - for sure, plainly, there’s drag. But I didn’t notice it. Not chalk and cheese with the Big Betty soft. Bit more grip on the DH16 I’d say. There sure should be.

SL battery managed a couple of hours fine. Plainly this is not a distance tyre setup unless you have Sam Hill’s legs.

I am using DH22 front with the 16, pretty similar characteristics to super my soft Mary overall in feel/grip.
Back to back testing would be needed to differentiate, meaning the Mary super soft is good too. .
DH 22 is good over the wet roots as well. Makes a nice pair the 22 & 16
Overall I am very pleased.
My Schwalbe Betty (soft) rear might have a tiny bit more climbing traction (it has no leading edge knob ramps) but it was VERY wet last ride (so many deep puddles and almost constant rain) so not a fair comparison.
The softness of the two Michelins has to help wet cornering grip, which feels excellent as long as you pressure the front wheel through the upper grip. the DH 16 brakes well too.
16 rolls well. Just as good as Betty I think. Must be those ramps.
Betty was fine on my Amish bike so maybe 16 would be ok too.
Follow up, I liked the 16 on the back a lot, very good for confidence - excellent grip cornering and off-camber, braking too, its shortcoming is grip on slimy wet climbs, almost entirely down to the ramped leading edges on the knobs. I'll put it back on when the trails aren't so greasy, but for now I have a Wild Enduro MS (essentially a front tyre) on the back. Better winching up slimy climbs for sure althoiugh it too has very slightly ramped leading edges. A Shorty might beat it for uphill grip, or if they ever make a Schwalbe Big Betty Radial.
