Mezcal minimum tyre pressure?

I've just switched to Vittoria Mezcal TNT tyres. When I was putting them on the bike I noticed there's a minimum tyre pressure of 29psi specified, it don't remember seeing minimum pressures on other tyres. I've got them setup tubeless and ran them today at 29psi and as I ride a hardtail I was rattling around on the trail.

Does anyone else run the tyre, if so have you had any problems running them at a lower pressure?

Minimum of 29 with tubes, I suppose.

There's no way that's a minimum for tubeless, unless you weigh 120kg.

I'm running the 2.1's at 23 psi.To be honest I was going to try reducing that. I'm 13 stone riding low technical trails.

I guess it makes sense if you're running tubes, maybe there's no minimum for tubeless. With the reckon tyres I was running them at about 25 at the back and 22 at the front and was really surprised who bad the ride is at 29. Good to hear other are running lower pressures, I wasn't sure if it was a thing with XC tyres, from what you've said it's not so I will go back to my usual pressures tomorrow 🙂

I run 2.25 Mezcals on my Scandal tubeless at around 22 psi on the rear with no problems.

Will depend on your weight, tyre size, type of terrain, etc. As a rule of thumb, you want a pressure low enough that the tyre absorbs the impact of small roots etc. (i.e. it's conforming to the trail surface), but not so low that it's too squirmy under lateral load. I weigh 85 kg naked and generally run 25 psi on a rear 2.25 inch tyre, down to 20 if there's no road climb.

2.6 mezcal on my bikepacking bike with many miles on them.
The front is usually somewhere mid teens psi for lovely fast rolling vibration damping cush.

It's likely to be more of a warranty/liability thing, i.e. don't come crying to us if your sidewalls start cracking, or you crashed due to burping all of your pressure.

I’m pretty sure all tyres have ludicrously high minimum pressures. I wager they are set by the legal department

I went 26 back 23 front today and they worked well. The difference between those pressures and the 29 psi they recommend was really big, the bike felt a lot more compliant today. I'm pretty heavy at 270lbs so think I'll stick with these pressures to give the rims some protection. I'm running 2.25 width tyres but wouldn't mind give 2.35 a try next time so I can lower the pressures a bit more.

What pressure would you guys use in a Mezcal for a ride like the HONC where there are some extended road sections?
