Just interested to see the different methods folks use to extract the bearings from the main pivots in the Hecklers or anything similar
Very carefully. I once left the bearing outer in the frame. That wasn't a good day. Then I bought the removal tool from Jungle and its it so very easy!
Can be done with a standard set of drifts (if they are the right size)
the tool would be great to have but its quite expensive for the little use it would have
~It is expensive but I figured it cost the same for a shop to do the job. So by buying the tool (or any suitable tool) and using it a few times I am actually saving money. It was useful when I had 3 set of bearings go in quick succession too.
Plus spending £40 or whatever on a tool and not making a mess of your frame is worth it. I nearly learned that the hard way!!
Used the DIY drift method one side came out OK the outer casing on the other did not move. Result about 2-3 hrs grinding it out with a dremel!
yeah there are a few factors I considered there is warranty because my bearings are lifetime and pretty new really (4 months) but rough as so do I need the shop to do it or the tool to do it SC said they will send me out new bearings but when it happens again its a ball ache taking it to the shop when I pretty much do it all myself its just that this is a specialist tool
I wont be using a Dremel on my frame though thats mad the tool also has a lip to remove the outer casing as well I believe
