Hi all,
A while ago i got Mrs D to agree to 'a new bike' once our house sale had completed. That now looks like its a month away, so i'm starting window shopping (woooooo!) 😀
I've been looking around and am quite tempted by the Commencal Meta TR v4.2 essential. I've heard some reviews mention that the boost back end (meh) means that larger feet attack the chain stays quite badly.
So, has anyone tried one? And any thoughts to verify if this is reviewers codswallop or something that's a potential annoyance for ownership?
Cheers!
Got the AM 4.2 - looks very similar and I've not started chewing them yet and it's something I do on most bikes
Spec looks solid, I went Origin for mine as I had nice bars/stem and a dropper to put on it along with some brakes
I have the 2015 version, non boost but still quite wide chainstays due to the rear caliper being inboard of the seat stay. Size 9 feet but ride slightly toe-in so only catch my heel on the right hand chainstay very occasionally.
Overall though I can highly recommend the bike, it might be "short travel" by today's standards but I've never felt the need for more - very confidence inspiring bike. Fine for the Reds at BPW (albeit at my somewhat mincing pace).
Thanks for the input. Glad to know its 'enough' for 90% of the time aka_Gilo 🙂
Sadly, though, the house sale has just fallen through (bar stewards), so it will have to go back to being window shopping for a while 🙁
I have the 2017 TR v4.2 and I have size 12 (UK) feet. When I ride clipless I have no issue with hitting the stays with my heels at all, however, when I switch to flats I do slightly rub the stays.
On another note, it's an amazing bike. Really loves to attack and is very stable.
