Hi everyone,
Well I was after a meta 6 as I want a bike ok on the ups but immense on the downs however they are like rocking horse s**t, and the ones that I rarely do see I get messed about with. So will the meta 5.5 be ok? I mainly ride at swinley forest and bike park Wales. The plan is to buy just the frame and then build it up to the right spec
Cheers
I've had a Meta 5.5.2 XT for 4.5 years - been a great bike.
Running 150mm Revelations up front which are seem much nicer than the Fox 140mm (QR dropouts) and Fox RP2 at the back. I personally think it's a great all-round bike - just whack the Propedal on for fireroad bashing. Pretty light (30 lbs-ish) and plenty planted with me on it. I used it at Stiniog a few months back, have been up Helvellyn and Snowdon and plenty of Peaks/Lakes/trail centres and it's never been out of it's depth or a problem.
You should pick a frame up for a really decent price too - go for it.
Someone will come along soon on tell you not to bother as 'they crack' but my large 2008 hasn't yet and I'm no flyweight I can tell you 😉
Mine's ace. Done pretty much the same as rascal and has great fun while doing it too.
Can u go up to 160mm forks? I've got my eye on one so fingers crossed he gets back to me.
Thanks for the advice so far 😀
Loved mine! Mine was 2011 team edition with fox bits and deore drive formula brakes.... Did all the sort of riding you are looking at on it, I thought 150mm forks on 32 Stanton's were utter bobbins though and managed to bend my set, the frame was mint though. Would have been really good with a set of lowered lyriks or 36's.
