Have you got one? Any good? Worth the substantial outlay?

And is the UL version at 210g (in the large, I've got a big head) as good as the cheaper and heavier version when it comes to smacking your head on things, or is it just a token affair at protecting your bonce?

Reason I ask these things was cos yesterday I tried on dozens of new helmets (my old Giro E2 is nearly fit for the bin) and with my wierd shaped head, this one fit the best (typical as it's £100!), so I am now very much considering buying one...

What say you (the owners please) about them?

Plenty protection and pretty light, i really like mine!
used to wear a met v element before and not much difference
in the weight.

I like mine. The fit is a bit quirky (have to hoik the rear strap down at the back) but it's stable and comfy, only notice when first putting on.

Very light and cool (as in cold). Think mine is the UL and haven't had any real concerns about it's durability so far.

Went from a large Bell Variant (where I found the medium way too small). Sadly the Bell was just that bit too loose in Large and the retention system wouldn't go any smaller. Found it slipping down at the front, especially with a headtorch lashed on.

Check CRC as I got mine through them cheap-ish. Oh, and they are still a bit quirky / odd in the looks department but better than old Met styles (IMO).

TBH helmets are incredibly personal choices and the only thing that might really be convincing is I'd buy another.

Std Kaos owner here, love the fit, very well vented.

Both helmets should meet the same safety standards so there should be no difference in protection between the two versions

Shop around for best prices & the std is only 40g heavier than the UL version IIRC (250g Vs 210g IIRC)

Light is best but fit is by far the most important thing.

Cheers, had wondered what the weight difference was. 40g is inconsequential really, my Giro E2 is over 300g anyway.

Has there been any difference in the model from year to year (other than colour schemes)? JE James has a large in "Beige Pearl" colour scheme for £60, which I'm very tempted by... It even looks ok in the picture, which when you hear "beige pearl" you wouldn't think it was!

Cheers for the feedback so far, just wanted to check if it was pretty good or not as it was not a helmet I'd heard of before trying it on. Like I say though, from the dozens I tried on, seemed to fit me the best so sounds like it could be a winner!

Best helmet I've had. Quite a slim looking helmet (which I prefer)

Briliant helmets. The comfiest ive ever used. Its retired now, due to me landing on the top of my head so hard i compressed my vertebrae... It did its job excellently though, i didnt feel a thing on my head.

I'd buy one again very happpily and will when myt current specialized helmet is retires. I just couldnt afford it at the time... Buy one

I wear one when appropriate and take a big interest in the design of them

😉

FWIW, I don't really get on with the Kaos- it squeezes my head in funny places and the retention system doesn't like to grip my head properly, so try before you buy.

Kaos UL is a great fit for me. Got mine for under £80 from CRC. A few shops on ebay have them for a better price than the £100+ RRP

It's chuffing light (the UL) version, seems to have a very nice fit and loads of ventilation. Mate has just bought one and is very happy with it.
