After looking around last week, I decided to go for a DHB merino short sleeve jersey https://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-merino-short-sleeve-jersey/?sku=100612866

What a complete disaster - I ordered up in size to XL as I wanted a looser fit - it's so small it doesn't come lower than my naval. It's got sticky stretch bands at the ends of the sleeves which are uncomfortable and the it's tight across the chest...

So, any recommendations for another

loose fit
long back
long front zip

Cheers

Merino is a base layer for when it's chilly. Not surprised a short-sleeve, long zip top is a disaster! I know I know.. but there are far better fabrics out there for short-sleeve tops.

I've just bought an Alpkit long sleeve merino cycling Jersey.

Nice and long, with long arms and a loose-ish fit. Xl size I'm 6' 4" tall.

Only worn it once under waterproof. Works well. Really soft against the skin.

Has washed nicely, no shrinkage on a 30wash and line dry.

Will also use it as a base layer when walking.

I was wearing a merino T-shirt for cycling in hot sun on Saturday, it was fine. I wear merino sweaters to work in the winter, they're fine too. I reckon a short-sleeved long-zipped top will probably be fine 😉

BTW the customer review of that Endura suggests it's only 10% wool, so it might not fit the bill…

Load of Merino on sports pursuit, not necessarily bike jerseys but you may find something suitable

Thanks so much to all for the replies

I'm going to try a Tormm.

I phoned them (him) today and the back length is long - like 29" which is the same as the one that's worn out (Lab-Gear which have stopped making 'jerseys' as far as I can see

I have a Surly short sleeve merino jersey.

It's well made, and is now about 12 years old.

For the money (and if they still have them), the OnOne Merino longsleeve tops are great.
