You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi,
I'm going to be back in Somerset for a short break shortly. I grew up (for want of a better phrase!) in/near Cheddar but never did very much riding there and it's time to put that right...
Can anyone please recommend me a route or two round the Mendips?? Was always intrigued where the Cheddar challenge route went if anyone knows?
And yes, we're getting over to the Quantocks too...
Cheers,
Chris.
Bad Ass bikes give away a good trail guide.
Shows a lot of the local info

Quite a few Mendip folk on here, and someone is usually out. If you're more specific about when, you might get a friendly guide.
Here's a map I found when I was heading to Cheddar for a long weekend last year;
I believe there is good singletrack in Rowberrow Warren but didn't get to explore it myself.

I also escaped to Cwmcarn for an afternoon if that's your kind of thing.
Cheddar challenge route goes through restricted access land, not really recommend riding really, I know of alot better riding than that too, e-mail me and i'll see what I can source
Brilliant help thanks everyone... Good links Winston and Timmys.
Thanks for the offer David but what I have from these maps should suffice...Unless there's one trail I really shouldn't miss!!?
Buzz, we should be riding out Mendip way on Wednesday this week and Quantocks on Thursday. Me and the girlfriend, so probably a fairly leisurely pace - happy to cover a good distance though... glad to have any company/guiding if anyone fancies it!
Cheers,
Chris.
Really late update I know, but we did indeed get two days brilliant riding in so thanks again for the pointers.
Found climbing in the Quantocks hard work but worthwhile - maybe steeper than it looks, or maybe just the muggy weather we had??
Mendip way we really enjoyed the fast trail skirting Black Down and exploring Rowberrow...
Will be packing the bikes more often on trips down SW!
Cheers,
Chris.
