Mega avalanche style mass start race at Kielder

Race time expected to be 14 minutes including 450 vertical meters of descending. Thats almost 4 x the drop at Hamsterley forest, with a mid race climb taking in approximately 60 vertical meters of climbing to separate the men from the boys!

Saturday 5 March

Course open for inspection 8.30am to 11am.

Qualifying races commencing 12pm.

Qualifying will be 6 heats of 30 riders racing for a spot in the "A" final. The first 10 riders from each heat will make the a final. If your in positions 11-20 you will qualify for the "B" final and positions 21-30 the "C" final.

Sunday 6 March

Course open for inspection 8.30 - 11.00. Finals races commencing 12pm.

Entries open 1st of January.

April 23/24 Northumberland NDH Rd1 Alwinton

May 21/22 Northumberland NDH Rd2 Kidland

July 2/3 North Yorkshire NDH Rd3 TBA

August 20/21 Cumbria NDH Rd4 Scratchmere Scar

September 24/25 Cleveland NDH Rd5 Carlton Bank TBC

October 22/23 County Durham Regionals? Hamsterley

Whats the difference between Alwinton and Kidland?

They are two different tracks on two different hills. Kidland is very steep tight and tecnical, Alwinton Is steeper faster and knarly...er!

Steeper??? That must be steep then if it is where I think it is then there is not much of a run out. Hope the snow has cleared up. My bro is a keeper up at Clennel and he says it is a bit treacherous at the moment.

Fair play to stick your neck out on the mega avalanche style format, pretty unique in the UK (apart from the glencoe thing?). I guess you must have a course route already laid out? Any map available?
