Will it work on 1x11 or do I need long cage?

Am running an AB wonky ring up front.

Thx.

1x = medium (GS) cage
2x = Long (SGS) cage

Using XTR GS with XX1 10-42t and XT GS with GX 10-42t, both work perfectly, no extreme B-screwing or any other issues. Xtr is on an AB wonky ring too.

Which is just as well, and Shimano are using horrible, easy-to-round aluminium B-screws with 2mm hex heads.

thx George. since you have both do you find any possible case for an XTR mech to be worth the wonga over XT?

Honestly - my first thought when I set up the XT was that it was, if anything, better.

Both set up with XTR shifters and SP41 cable, only real difference is the XX1 cassette on the XTR biek versus the GX on the XT.

XTR has a longer warranty and a few grams, but Yeah, I'd say XT is the value. 11sp SLX is on the horizon too.
