Mech exploded on the commute to work this morning. Converted to a single speed to get to work.

I've a new 10spd chain on order from on-one, but my question is will a 9spd XT shadow mech (lying at home spare) be able to cope with the job of a 10 spd 105 cassette?

Alternative, anyone wanna come to kidderminster and weld my mech back together?

should imagine so, might be issue with jockey wheel width, but as long as the limit screws are adjusted correctly the indexing is done by the shifter

Yes, it'll be fine.

I run a 9-speed XT mech on a 10-speed XT cassette (using Ultegra STIs), so I reckon there's enough commonality.
