A new hanger is £20. An Icetoolz tool is £35.
Are they any good? Does it just let me know if it's bent or can I use it to straighten the offending item?

Yes, and it'll depend - ie if it's a steel/Ti on the frame you'll be fine, but an alloy one can easily snap. So you'll need to buy a new (or buy two so you've a spare) alloy one anyway 🙂
You use the tool to straighten the hanger, though a big bend might snap it.
Not used the Icetoolz one though
It's both an indicator and a bar to lever back into the correct place. So you can tweak a slightly bent hanger back to the correct position, a badly bent one will still need heat or replacement depending. You can get reasonable results with a large adjustable and long rule but the tool makes it much easier.
It's not visibly bent my gears just don't sound right.
I've just had a look at the Icetoolz one and it looks a bit faffy to be honest.
I've just had a look at the Icetoolz one. Not sure I like the design. If not wanting to spend on Unior or Park I'd look at the X Tools version.
Have bought a few hangers in the past ime the OE hangers aren't perfectly straight anyway
I fitted a North Shore Billet hanger to a Scott last year it was like having a new drivetrain
Hope need to get into the gear hanger market
I've got the Wiggle/Lifeline cheapo one, £20-ish. Works just as well as the Park version and is nice and sturdy. Have fixed more than one bent hanger with it, so it's paid for itself already. You can fix most alloy hangers usually to get plenty more life out of them, even if they're badly bent enough to really screw up shifting. You just need to be a bit careful, that's all. 🙂
