First time at Mayhem this year. When is best to get there? I was thinking the Friday morning or is it better to go Thursday to secure a good pitch?

I usually go Friday morning. The place is empty. Apart from 1000 miles of marker tape securing every pitch on the bloody site!!

Yes.
It's important not to actually camp though. Just mark out a huge area and bugger off again!
Don't forget bring large genny to run some lights and music to keep you going. Preferably right nr the solo tent area 🙂
Get Houns to park his yellow Punto in the area you want. Easy to spot when it gets crowded too 🙂

It's absolutely fine to reduce a previously marked out area by moving the posts and tape
In fact, it provides some welcome entertainment later in the day as the tape layers turn up and start scratching their heads and looking a bit perplexed
Done it twice now - it is funny 😀
I think it's illegal to move the marker tape. Part of the event rules.
Best thing to do is live just down the road and go home for meals and sleep 😉

I don't there are any rules about who can camp where within the camp site
Some people take the piss and set out prairie sized areas for a couple of tents and a van
If you want to camp there, pitch your tent, otherwise don't be surprised if your towel has been thrown off the lounger when you eventually turn up
I might create my own drive way, garden area and a paddock for a few sheep.....
