got an ISIS bb and raceface cranks on the bike at the mo, but have found an old XTR octalink chainset.

is ISIS / Octalink compatible or will i need to change the bb?

Cheers

Not a stupid question...

... but no, not compatible. You'll need to buy a new BB.

i imagine the tool for removing the bb would cost less than getting a bike shop to do it for you. just remember to use paypal at CRC. octalink bbs turn up from time to time as well on ebay or maybe here but more likely in the retrobike for sale section. just make sure you get the right bb as there are 2

Be careful - I think XTR octalink is not the same as XT octalink - not certain tho. Can anyone confirm?

TJ is correct, it's probably XTR M950 series, blueish grey cranks arms.

I'd steer clear, the BBs are next to impossible to buy now, certainly not listed at Madison.

They were about £50 or so IIRC.
