just before taking that pic I passed a baby long tail tit in the road... thought about decided to turn around an see if i could move off the road at least, got within 10 yards of it and it was snatched off the road by a red kite !!!!! poor little fella 🙁

Can you see the first image? If not how do you post an image from Instagram, that's the only reason I'm using it!

Local blast, including one of the slowest ascents of the day on the Cote de Barden Moor 🙂

We spent 10 hours in Greno Woods for the Steel City DH. In its 9th year and been going since the first one, each year it gets better and better. The organisation was first class and the spectators turned out in droves to cheer the riders on, even if it was bitterly cold.

Today's been stripping and packing Abigales bike ready for tomorrows flight for the next EWS.

Might get some time in the garage later stripping one bike to use some of the parts for the new, to us, bike build.

Yesterday was watching the SCDH - freezing cold but a great event.  Queues for the coffee and food were ridiculous, but everything else was fantastic.

This morning was a spot of garage time, then a quick local ride tryign out my new 1x11 setup with oval ring - nothing exlpoded and I didn't die, so I guess I can call that a succesusful conversion!

no riding - swapped frames from a small suppressor to a medium patrol (both 2015).

This is before

after is the same but with my coil inline, manitou mattoc and 165mm XT crank. Will be replacing the easton hiest wheelset with DT 240s + ex471's once they get built up. Bike was my bro in law's but he hasn't ridden it in almost 2 years.

We don't really ride trail centres, but a visit to a family member, meant we had a ride around Llandegla forest. There was snow on some of the trails. I enjoyed the Black and red runs, but some of those climbs in the forest were a tad steep in places. Great views at the top.

It was nice to bump into Sam and his Mrs from 'Sett Valley cycles, New Mills. They were camping in their 1972 VW, on the other side of the 'Horse Shoe pass - Llangollen', brave souls that they are with their 2 young bike mad children.

I put myself together a nice epic yesterday, 37 miles of Snowdonia's finest.
And for those that hate fatbikes, it was on one of these beasts too!

Rode The Long Gap yesterday, headwind up and headwind from hell on the way down. Riding FoD tomorrow with my mate so should be good!

Knackered my knee last week so it was a absolute stroke of luck my mate arranged a couple of E-Bikes for us this weekend.

Rode Brecon Gap yesterday, 40k and 700m of climbing, even riding everywhere (mostly) in Eco mode it was fairly easy on the way up, not convinced by the descents, just so heavy, but I can understand why people love them.

Rode local this afternoon, 28k and 680m it climbing, rode most of it with it set on Turbo and it’s blinding fast, did a bit more work with the suspension and tyres and it descended a lot better, not best suited to jumps and drops though, lands like an anvil fired from orbit. Covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time, more than usually would. Got home on 2% battery.

Managed a 7am blast around an area in the south Cotswolds this morning. 10 miles of exploring any trail I could find including a wealth of short DH/jump lines and a load of steep and loose trails. Best bit is that it’s only 20 minutes from my house and can be linked to a stack load of other trails for an all day epic - get in!

It was blowing a hoolie, so I headed for a large chunk of what looked like forest on the OS map. Turns out that they've cleared a chunk of it, so that didn't really work 🙂

Riding with my two boys in the South Downs.

If you were one of those who passed our lunch stop at a slightly odd junction and asked if we were ok (thinking we had a mechanical when we were more focussed on monster munch and ham sarnies) thank you.

It's nice to see that the old ways of keeping an eye open for your fellow riders haven't died out.

Slightly different to usual local loop this morning. Wanted to grab my annual wild garlic photo, so planned my ride around getting to the spot where it grows. Then (petty I know) took back a lost pedally KoM by 4 seconds (well within GPS margin of error so I reckon we're about equal), but it was into the wind on my Rocket so I'll happily take that. Sorted a stricken sheep and stared out some small cows before looping back through the woods trying to avoid any fireroad (95% successful).

An early evening ride ( Friday ) will be the only ride this weekend ..some great " secret " woodland singletrack..which has become better with use (and was dry as sticks)..but the location is for you to discover as I'm not telling..it's naughty you see and over-use might just spoil it .. ..plus a snow shower out on the moors which were soggier in places than I was expecting ..got the weekend off to a great start..working / worked Saturday & Sunday ..but I've got my first bank holiday day off this year today !
A pic of Jaco on Greenrigg Moor ( Northumberland)...

Ugh. That rabbit. Should come with some kind of warning!

Sneaked out today with an airy ‘Yes I’ll jet wash the patio when I get back’ thrown over my shoulder. Glad I did. Local woods were properly loamy.

I am enjoying myself, even if the expression suggests otherwise!

@jekkyl - the poor thing literally ran into my front wheel on a long straight flat, doing between 20-25 at the time, nearly threw me over the bars. Dread to think what would have happened had I been going down hill at a higher speed!

I had a lovely 7 hour epic on Saturday.
Hilly Hertfordshire cxtastic. Morning coffee in Hertford and lunch in Epping.
Bliss.
Another 3 hour spin yesterday and saved the best for today with little J for the Tour de Ally Pally. He was Froome and I was Geraint Thomas obvs.

Well well. This morning I woke in such a chuffing grumpy old mood. Already been windsurfing all weekend, didn’t fancy a trail run over QECP because of the crowds.. as I hobbled into my spare room I accidentally grabbed the sheet that covers my bikes and this blue thing appears... Haven’t been on the CXer in a couple of years.. everything still worked (I did put it to bed immaculately well prepared, just in case) and lo-and-behold the trails were dry as a dry thing, birds singing, no-one around, and I put some effort it..

Turned out to be a nice Yomp.

Thanks for that bikebuoy, hugely proud!
It would be fair to say he made a great impression on the photographers,
off the winning pace, but absolutely loved the ride and the whole event. One year of riding under his belt, only his first proper race, watch this space...

On the road bike leading a group in northeast Hertfordshire on Sunday - bit chilly but lovely quiet country lanes. Out on the MTB for bridleways and byways of southeast Hertfordshire - trails dry, Broxbourne Woods looking lovely.

If if he’s too young to drink, tell him there is a grumpy bloke sitting in his favourite pub in the South Downs drinking a pint to your lads skillz.

👍👌🍻🍺🍻🍺

Black coombe blast on Friday Eve and Walna Scar today (one of the lads on his cross bike in prep for 3 peaks), that'll do!

Did the Capital Trail (minus the bit over Kirkhope Law due to time and a bit of nasty weather). Short first day/afternoon: started from Peebles, bivvied near Bavelaw in the Pentlands having ridden over Monk's Rig which was a bit of a lung buster in places.

Through the Pentlands and then worked our way through the outskirts of Edinburgh via various roads and ginnels to Portobello.

Green Glen

On to Musselburgh then worked our way inland to climb up in to the lammermuir hills. Big climb up on to Lammer Law

In and out of a few glens until we got to Bunnie's Bothy (locked) and headed out following the Whelplaw Burn. Through Lauder then in to Melrose where we bivied by the river. Another early start and we got in to Selkirk just as the rain started. Found somewhere for a second breakfast then it was some big hills via Tibby Tamson's grave to get up on to The Three Brethren where it started to snow.

Some lovely riding along the Southern Upland Way led to the top of Innerleithen Forest.

Down the XC route (fun on loaded rigid bikes) and in to Innerleithen for more coffee. With a keen wind, snow showers and rather cold feet we decided to skip the loop heading up on to Kirkhope Law so headed back along the valley bottom to Peebles.

Saw very few people when we were out on the hills - three walkers in the Lammermuirs and two runners on the Southern Upland Way as we headed towards Innerleithen for example. Only saw a couple of mountain bikers all weekend. Everything was probably as dry as it's likely to get. Apart from the bits in the trail centres it's eminently suitable for a gravel bike with large volume tyres.

I went and did a morning last weekend at FoD which is a place I love, and took my new GoPro with me and recorded some stuff. I'm not the best rider by a long shot having only started last year, but here's the final descent of the blue trail there! First time editing and uploading video so hopefully it's all good!
