My question is,I bought a maxxis Minion DHF tyre which was sold and described as Super tacky,I received the tyre today but nowhere does it say Super tacky on the tyre.Is this a comlpletely different tyre or do some of them not actually say it on the tyre??Im sure evrery Maxxis I've Sen usually says on it what type of compound it is
Kinda pissed if I've been sold something that isn't what was described
Cheers
What size? I think the 650B 2.3s only come in the 3C compound?
26" 2.5 "supposedly " super tacky but doesn't say anywhere on the tyre that it is
Maxxis aren't normally shy of sticking as many acronyms as they can on the sidewall. If it doesn't say super tacky or ST I'd guess it probably isn't.
does it say 42 anywhere as thats the hardness rating of supertacky tyre
Pretty sure the tyres on my DH bike say ST with super tacky underneath on the sidewalls they are 2.5s as well
Obviously I'm a dirty tyre fetishist but ST feels different too, it's very squishy. Supertacky seems out of fashion, it's all about the 3C these days. With recent maxxis designs, if there's not a compound logo it usually means 60A but I don't know if that's universal
thanks guys,I gave a ST High roller 2 and the tyres feel very different, plus the HR2 says super tacky on the side wall, most Minions ive seen usually sat Super tacky or Maxpro, this tyre says nothing apart from Minion dhf downhill specific amd 2.5 size
I have a 26" 2.5 super tacky and it says ST super tacky on the tyre wall.
There should be a part number on the packaging (starts with TBxxxx), look it up in the Maxxis catalogue.

+plus 1 for 3c version DHF and DHR 😉
I have a Kevlar 2.5 26" super tacky which says ST on the side, I'm pretty sure my DH version doesn't say it. I'll go check in the car in a min.
Edit: the super tacky dh tyre is marked with ST and DH casing. The 60a version of the same tyre has no markings to indicate compound. If it's relevant, the ST has maxxis in White, the 60a has maxxis in yellow. Sounds like you have the 60a version.
I've got a spare 26" 3C Minion if you want it cheap Craig! 🙂 (Not ST I know, but 3C is betterer)
Recently put a pair of 3C DHF's on my Five.
They don't half grip well.
