You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Looking at Ikon Skinwalls and pondering the 2 versions - being Ikons they'll be a summer tyre used on forest singletrack mainly but I will be using on the SDW as well ie flints.
Having run Schwalbe in non-Snakeskin and being plagued with issues, I'd NEVER get a Schwalbe in non-Snakeskin so should I only go for Maxxis in EXO-variant?
I have no idea, Maxxis site is very hard to decipher info from.
I have EXO Minions and Highroller 2's and they are both pretty much puncture free.
also I have IKON's in EXC whatever that is
Defo exo mate it is the better walled versions also if they have one with max grip to go for the whole lot.
Thanks batman11 - EXO it is then.
I've put a lot of distance on Ikon Exos (c. 20,000km) = tougher sidewalls for very small weight penalty. Been largely trouble free apart from a huge side wall tear last weekend caused by a 6 inch nail. Would have done for any tyre I think...
I wouldn't bother going with the non-exo ones.
The skinwall is very fragile. Mine lasted 3 rides on South Downs/QECP before a flint sliced clean through one of them.
mattbee - were you running the EXO variant?
Dunno, tbh. They are chucked in the back of the garage somewhere.
Would be EXO for me as well on the South Downs.
My Schwalbe Liteskin JJs have been picking up thorns for fun recently while the Minion EXO has never missed a beat.
Thats me stuffed clearly 🙂
