Must be something special - €95 RRP versus €48 for the standard version. Same compound, same everything, just the thicker casing. Double Down presumably means you get to pay for it twice.

Does it work though? Given the shit luck I've had with continental protection sidewalls of late, I'd consider paying more for something that works.

Minion Exo Casing - 800g
Minion Double Down - 1000g
Minion Dual Ply - 1300g

Double down sits between exo and dual ply, had one on the front for the Megavalanche/Morzine, no punctures, but did't have the weight penalty of dual ply.

I've a set of Aggressors that I will sell for £50 the pair if anyone is interested. They were great in Finale but they're a bit "fast rolling" for the bogs of Ireland.

The Doubledown is a great casing, very tough, its a shame they haven't made it available on more tread patterns.

I paid $60 for a 29er EXO Aggressor in the U.S, and the DD version was $75 I think so not a massive difference between the two. I do know that Maxxis has been slow shipping Aggressors globally though, with even fewer DD’s delivered, so maybe the low volume is having an effect on prices outside of the States.

Definitel slow to appear, plenty of resular aggressors about, but virtually no DD ones except the crazy expensive one above.

Fancied the DD one as a rear for uplift days. and the like.

Used a 2.5 Minion DHF DD Maxxgrip and a 2.3 DD 3C Aggressor at Ard Rock. No problems whatsoever 🙂 And I hit ALLL the rocks.

Just back from a week in Morzine running DD Agressor rear and Minion DHF front on the Aeris. Ran them 20psi front & 25psi rear - buckets o' grip and no problems whatsoever. They're not cheap but it was either those, or standard Maxxis DH tyres plus DH tubes, and the price worked out about the same.

I'm 100kg funkweasel - not the lightest of gents so I was surprised to be able to run those pressures & get away with it!

Cool - I put in extra air for AR, but I'll take it down to those - do you find them really draggy, or not so bad?

For normal UK riding I run EXO High Rollers on the back and Minion DHF on the front. Given that I ran the DD tyres at 5psi less, they didn't feel particularly draggy in comparison. With 'Maxxgrip' the centre knobs are (I think) 60a and the side rows are 42a, you can definitely feel the extra grip cornering!

Looks as though a DD Rear and Exo front (once the decent tread patterns are available) could be the new gold standard for Trail/Enduro/DH lite riding.

2.5 DHF (Shorty for winter) up front and 2.3 DHR2 HR2 rear job done!

Yup, I ran the DD Shorty up front and DD Minion DHF on the rear in Morzine when it was muddy, and it's an awesome combo in the sludge!

Those of you running the Aggressor double down (funkweasal & uberscott) how are your side walls looking - all the threads are showing on mine after 200 miles and started showing within the first few rides. Would like to know if it's normal....

Plenty of tread left

I like the tyre - it's fast rolling to make up for the weight and I needed something more robust than snakeskin or EXO sidewalls.

I have the dhf 2.5 with double down casing
And the same thing is happening after a couple of rides. Pretty crap for a tyre that is aimed at those wanting extra protection.

Wow, I haven't seen that on any of my sidewalls, they've had probably 100-120 miles of use so far. I'll keep an eye on them though, that ain't good!

Thanks for the feedback guys - I've emailed Maxxis UK with the pictures to see what they say.

For anyone looking, CRC have the DD aggressor are a more reasonable (but still expensive) price in stock now, while Nextdaytyres are now quoting 05 Oct for stock (sounds like someone jumped the queue)
