Anyone seen any hint of a release date on these? They seem to be an Aggressor but with rolling speed and braking traction, which is all win win IMO. That happy middle ground between the Minion SS and DHR2 that I've been wishing for.

You are relying on Maxxis UK/Extra, might be here for next summer.

Still waiting on Exo casing Assegai's which were promised for July time.

Maxxis UK no longer import bike tyres, so its down to Madison & Extra now. That may make things faster or slower. Take your pick.

I'd be buying from the Germans anyhow. (they have Assegai in 3C DH, 3C Exo, 3C DD and Dual EXO in stock, as it happens)

Thanks not a good sign, your replies are usually more along the lines of "I've had a set of those on my Aeris for a few months, they're ace" 🙂

Aggressors have been my rear summer tyre since they came out, but I've got a garage and shed full of part worn tyres taken off when something new comes out.

If anyone in the North East is importing these give me a shout and I could split postage on a 27.5" Exo 3C MaxxTerra.

NSMB recently reviewed/rode them and seemed to like them for certain situations at least.

agree with all of that - aggressor 2.5 is pretty draggy in comparison to a 2.3 SS, and no where near as grippy as a dhr2 in the wet

so the dissector looks a great combo of both to me, sadly it will be well into winter before we get them no doubt

bike-components want £15 ish delivery to the UK though, unless I'm being daft. I got a 29" Exo Assegai from bikester after a little waiting.

Dissector looks like a good rear tyre to me, maybe next summer!

It does look like it could be a cracking rear tyre, but I'm currently using a Hans Dampf 2 SG and a Maxxis Tomahawk DD on my back wheels and they're both excellent - so I can wait.

Maxxis should have a one-in, one-out policy on their tyre range though, as its getting ridiculous.

I'm still on an SS out back and it's not raining today, yet. The Dissector has a pretty deep trad too, judging by footage of it at Eurobike, saw a youtube clip, think it was GMBN.

Bumping this thread, has anyone ridden this tyre and how did you find it? Looking to replace a worn DHR2 2.4" DC with something a little fast rolling for the summer and this looks good, but interested to know how the braking and climbing traction is.

I’ve been using a EXO+ one the rear of Enduro bike & on the E-bike in the dry.

Fast rolling, no noticeable drag and plenty of grip for a rear tyre.

Interested to try it when it’s not dusty and things are a bit wetter but at the moment it’s a thumbs up from me.

Merlin had the DC in stock for £40 (29x2.4) but that was sold out within days

Anyone have experience of running a Dissector 3c Exo+ as a rear winter tyre?
If so 2.6 or 2.4 width?

I had a dissector on the rear of my bike on my last ride and it was a bit damp, tyre was all over the place at times.

I wouldn’t want to be using it when it’s properly wet.

I've had one on for most of the summer. A 2.6. As above I wouldn't expect it to be a great winter option. However I put it on in place of an Aggressor which struggled at the merest hint of mud, and I think it's quite a bit better than that was.

That said, I've struggled with 2.6s generally on this Enduro type bike, finding both that EXO 2.6s puncture a lot more easily than narrower tyres of the same carcass, and taking the view also that they don't grip as well.

I have since replaced the Dissector with a 2.4WT EXO+ DHR which so far I prefer. Probably quite a bit draggier but I can't put any science to that.

All that said, I'm considering building up a hardtail and that might be a better application for the stock of 2.6s I'm left with. The Dissector will probably go on the back first if I do.

Hi I have used the Maxxis Dissector for the last 12 months (I purchased the dissector when I was in the USA) The Dissector I have is a 27.5 x 2.4 I run it on the rear of a single speed steel hardtail it replaced a Maxxis HR2 (27.5 x 2.3).
I would comment as follows
1) It grips better then the HR2 when the trail is damp / light mud
2) It does not spin out as frequently as the HR2
3) For tire that is designed for dry weather it does OK in muddy conditions, the tire rarely becomes fully packed with mud in winter conditions
4) It is better at breaking then the HR2
5) The rolling resistance is similar or slightly less than the HR2
6) Cornering grip is better than the HR2

Anyone running the Dissector up front? Dissector front with Aggressor rear sounds like a decent trail centre combo to me..?

I’ve been running a Dissector up front (27.5 * 2.4) and a mix of a Rekon rear, or Dissector Rear (again, both 2.4).

Seems good - not massively noticed the difference between it and a DHF (might be rider dependent). Survived a round of the Borrowdale Bash last week with no issues.

Am a bit meh about the Aggressor (in both 2.3 & 2.5). Dissector on the rear is lighter, easily as grippy and feels it rolls better (certainly than the 2.5 Aggressor).

I’ve just put the Rekon back on as I’ve some less challenging riding lined up this weekend, but seems to have developed a wobbly carcass. So likely will put the dissector back on...

Ive been running a 29x2.4 for the last 2 months, I rate it as much better than the Aggressor I ran before and not as draggy as the DHF i ran out back its the 3c terra max version.. Its had full xc loops Lakes rocks and Tommy C Hype local days on the stupid runs . I think its a perfect crossover fast rolling and loads of grip when lent right over.

Thanks for the feedback on the Dissector.
I've been running a 2.6 High Roller2 / Rekon 3c Exo combo over the summer as they came stock on my bike.
I was convinced I would be swapping them straight out - but set them up tubeless & gave them a go, tbh have got on great with them once I ran them at low enough pressures.
Was thinking ahead to when things get a bit wetter - will probably stick with the 2.6 HR2 on the front & see how that performs, but need to swap out the Rekon.
Was thinking of the Dissector as a faster rolling alternative to a DHR2 & also thinking of sticking with 2.6 as I'm liking it so much presently, but maybe 2.4 is a better choice for the mud??

NS, A good rear tire is the Bontrager XR5 this is both fast rolling and clears mud well, with great grip when cornering I have run the XR5 27.5 x 2.6 front with a 2.3 on the rear on a steel hardtail
Most of my riding is around West Yorkshire, my experience with the XR5's is approx 6 months.

Sorry to drag the thread up but has anyone else found the Dissector a bit fragile?

I've had my 2.4" since the middle of July and it's looking pretty trashed, certainly in comparison to the DHR2 that it replaced and had been on since last September. I've also managed to pinch flat it twice, which is a first since fitting Rimpact last September.

@NS yeah that would help. It's a standard Exo Dual compound, same as the DHR I was running with no issues before.

Re fragility I did find mine a bit fragile in Exo 2.6 compared to 2.4s ( or thereabouts) on previous bike. However, I found all the Exo 2.6s I had to puncture a bit easily. I replaced it with an Exo plus 2.4 DHR but that's wearing at least as quickly and has also punctured once (not a pinch though, caveat: sample size of one etc).

Can't help but think if your riding led you to fit an insert then maybe a tougher carcass might be a good call anyway. I'm not convinced Exo plus is much more than Exo though. Next time I'll probably go DD or another brand.
