Tyre was fine last year. Took off, rinsed off, folded and stored for 12 months. Re fit and the sealant keeps weeping from the tyre bead and a few parts of the side wall. Stans sealant bottle has been opened a few times and discoloured a bit over the last year or so. Could that be the problem?
New tyre time or remove, clean and refit with new sealant?
I wouldn't worry too much unless it is losing air fast. Most of mine do that and my Stans bottle is probably a couple of years old. I usually find a few rides and a top up through the valve core will solve the problem.
It's holding pressure but making a mess everywhere. An oily clear liquid on the floor.
Separated sealant. It's that time of year where you see riders dusting their bikes off from a winter storage and their sealant weaps through their mostly maxxis sidewalls like water.
So, should I just replace the sealant?
My DHF on my hardtail does this. It had fresh sealant from an unopened bottle of Stan’s that’s fine in the DHR2 / Slaughter / Butcher on the other wheels. Clear liquid sealing through the tyre wall - but not losing air or seeping out from the bead. Annoying but not a drama really.
I have a spare DHR2 but find it draggy. I'll re fit the DHF and see how it goes.
