Hi,

I've a Voodoo Bizango and I need to replace the old Maxxis Ardents currently on it.

I'd say my riding is more like gravel stuff, so from a bit of road to tracks, tow paths, forests and around the likes of Box Hill (off road) for those who know that neck of the woods. They need to be a bit of an allrounder I guess but one thing I don't do is go to trail centres.

Any recommendations for replacements?

Thanks

Sounds like ardent is the correct tyre.

Get a decent quality dual compound exo sidewall Ardent. Not the dirt cheap oem tyre as fitted.

I find the rekon fills a very similar role to the ardent, but just a bit better all round. I’m around your sort of area (north downs) and think three tyres work very well for all year- butcher (or similar), rekon or ardent and ikon or aspen.

If it’s dry enough to use a rekon/ardent on the front, you can go faster on the back. If it’s not, put the rekon/ardent on the back and something a bit toothier up front because it’s muddy enough that you won’t lose any real speed and you’ll be glad of the grip.

(I add a mud tyre on there for winters like this, but my bit of the north downs, around Caterham and godstone, gets so gloopy that anything else isn’t much fun. I could live without it though).

I have a Bizango which I run alongside my Bird. I replaced the OEM Ardents for a 2.4 Minion on the front and a 2.35 High Roller II on the back.

It definitely grips better although also drags a bit worse.

As said further up get the decent exo duel compound tyres. Go 2.4 on the front and 2.25 on the back. I have this on my general purpose bike and they work well except in deep mud. But as a jack of all trades pair they are great.
