Looking to get some higher volume dryer weather tyres for my 120mm full sus XC / trail bike and need some recommendations regarding size / volume.
I've been riding Fire XC Pros for the past 6 months and while they are a great tyre with tons of grip in the mud / wet, they size up really small.
After a bit of research I've decided to grab a pair of Advantages but I've seen that they come in 2.25 or 2.1 size. I've heard that the 2.25's are more like a 2.4 so these might be a bit overkill, so how do the 2.1's size up?
Not much between them in 2.1's TBH, the maxxis is slightly bigger. If you want to size up then go for the 2.25's.
I have a 2.1 advantage on front of my HT and I love it. One of the tyres I use on the rear is a 2.1 Ground Control Spesh and size wise they are very similar.
2.25 advantage is a lot bigger than 2.1 fire xc, 2.1 is a bit bigger. I've used all 3 at different times.
As far as 2.1" tyres go, fire XCs are sensibly* about as small as you'll find a 2.1" and an advantage 2.1" about as big as you'll sensibly* find. imo there's a fair bit between them
as far as I remember a fire XC is nearly as small as a high roller (XC) 2.1" and the advantage nearly as big (mostly the tread is lower) than a 2.35" high roller mk1 for eg
