Hello there.

My 33mm Challenge Grifo reached the end of their short lifes and need to be replaced. With the next set of tyres I would like to go wider and tubeless.

Though Kinesis claims that the tyre clearance of the 2017 Crosslight Pro6 model is 40mm, I must say I somehow doubt that. My 33mm Challenge Grifo have not even 3mm to each side of the chain stay. A 40mm tyre on the same rim might be touching the frame, would be my guess.

Does anybody ever tried to fit a 40mm tyre on that particular frame?

Best
rob

The original (so not quite what you're asking, but it might help) would 'fit' a nano but while it would go round you couldn't see the gaps at the sides. Some 38mm Gravelking sks looked ok for 'not too muddy' clearance to me, so if they've upped the clearance for the newer models a 38 might not be too bad?

You might be right swanny. I just found some the 37c WTB Riddler that has a suitable profile, might fit the frame and is tubeless. That should be the safe option. A 40mm just doesn't feel right. I just hope the step up from the old 33mm to a new 37mm will be a gain in comfort and grip.

I ran 40mm nanos on my V1 and V2 without issue. Doesn't leave loads of mud clearance and does need a pretty true wheel.  That's on stock crosslight wheels.

Riddler 37 would be my recommendation based on not using them.

My v1 has 35c gravelkings which measure up 37. Clearance is ok but I probably wouldn't go wider.

Does the V2 have more clearance? No mention of it on the website that I can see.

Clearance is very similar between the v1 and V2 if not the same
