How wide is too wide? Found a deal on a set of WTB ST i23 rims, same weight as grails and the likes just 2.7mm wider. Tubeless by the way
More width = more volume = better ride, or is there a limit to this?
I know alot of people use arch ex rims @ 21mm
You sure about that? Grails are quoted as 460g and i23s as 583g.
I'm running 25mmm rims with Grifos.
Yes, just realised the same, ebay seller quoting them at 455g, not even the 26" are that light according to WTB. Planet X also quote them at 455g.
Good to hear some wide rim skinny tyre feedback though for reference
I ran CX tyres on DT 470 rims, they're slightly narrower than crest's, but were still a bit weird so I probably wouldn't. Might consider something like 40mm tyres if I was stuck with the rims, but if I was buying rims I'd get something cross specific (or a wide road rim).
I run Pacenti CL25 rims (25mm outer) with 28mm tyres.
CL 25's here as well. 25 mm road tyres at 100psi. Excellent.
