STW!

I am doing a lockdown build and got a pair of old 2009 Mavic Crossmax SLR wheels (26er 135mm).

I am debating going to an 11 speed rear cassette and I have tried to fit a semi worn shimano xtr cassette but it seems to be too large.

Will the Crossmax freehub accept an 11 Speed cassette or will I need to change the free hub or possibly the wheels to do this?

Ta
Woody?

Yep. 11 or 12 speed if you use SRAM NX or SX cassettes. I think sun race do one that will fit too. You need something compatible with shimano HG pattern freehubs

Thanks Tom

Do you know if it requires a washer / spacer behind the largest cog?

I could get the whole cassette on but the smallest sprocket didn’t fit against the splines on the freehub properly and I could get a few turns on the lock ring but the cassette wasn’t tightened properly

Perhaps I need to try again

Shimano 11 speed should work, they just moved the biggest cog towards the spokes and only went micro spline for the 12 speed stuff.

Managed to get it on - perhaps I never believed enough last night 😀

Now just need to get an 11 speed mech and shifter
